Pete Townshend - Who Came First - 45th Anniversary

Wasn't the 45th anniversary of this album last year?

 

Great album. Hopefully the bonus content is interesting.

 

I’m thinking the previously unreleased tracks might mean for previous releases of WCF only, and are quite possibly available on other sets, like the Meher Baba cd releases, and previous live PT releases, like Fillmore ‘96, etc. It will be interesting to see the track listing when it becomes available.

I think maybe the live performances might be from when he was in India in 1972. He did three songs. "O'Parvardigar", which was already released on a single and on Jai Baba, and he did "Bargain" and one more song that I can't remember.

 

I'm set with none.
I had an early CD release of this once; yeah it does have a different version of The Seeker not enough for me to spend anything on again...

 

Yes indeed - does anyone know if Pete and Ronnie recorded any other tracks together around the same time as Evolution?

 

Another possibility for the live tracks would be the Raphael Rudd Oceanic concerts from '79 and '80. Portions of these were released in 2001 and it would fit in with the Meher Baba aspect.

Wonder why the one song get left off. But since I have the old version, there’s more than enough new stuff here to make a purchase worthwhile for me and I’ll just stick the missing song on.

 

I wonder if the 1974 one mane show was recorded

 

To frustrate completists and make sure people in the future who want everything make two purchases.

 

It also looks like we're not getting the complete unedited 'Evolution' either, if WCF is in it's original form.

 

The old "we add something, we drop something" policy striking again. Fortunately, I have the previous cd's too.

 

This sounds like a cliché, but: "a missing opportunity".

 

The US Decca does sound better than the UK Track. The same with the US/UK Smash Your Head Against The Wall.

 

Would kill for a 2 CD / 2 LP release of the Lifehouse demos. How do we live in a world where these are allowed to be out of print?

 

Trout Mask Replica is out of print too, so go figure the hideous world we're living in.
Hyperboles aside, those demos should be re-released like... now!

 

My UK WCF LP is much better than my US. My UK Smash is MUCH better than my US, except it lacks the lyric sheet. I have never heard a US Decca anything that sounds better than a UK Track anything, including Who's Next.
