Ok, well, I hate to start another Who's Next thread, but this isn't about the CDs (and don't start talking about them!!). I just thought I'd ask here, though it's not really a musician-oriented forum... I've never seen a good explanation of how Townshend created the synthesizer parts for Baba O'Riley, Won't Get Fooled Again, Join Together and the other pieces that show up on Who Came First, Lifehouse, etc. How did he create these incredible sequenced parts in 1971? All I remember is some weird explanation about him inputting Meher Baba's birthday and his synthesizer coming back with Baba O'Riley, or something like that. Can someone explain the technology in something approaching layman's terms?
