    Well, I just read through 11 pages of this thread and couldn't find the info I was looking for (Yeah, yeah, "Empty Pages").

    Do the European Traffic Island Masters cd (IMCD, CID) have the SAME mastering as the non-remastered US Island CDs? Could anyone post EAC values to confirm? I am very curious about Dear Mr. Fantasy, S/T, John Barleycorn, Low Spark, and Welcome to the Canteen.

    Thanks for the help!

    For Low Spark it is a difficult decision for me between the original Island cd and the 2001 US remaster. If pressured to chose, I would go with the remaster because of the original track order and the bonus track. The sound quality is not offensive , but I do like the sound of the Island cd a hair better.

    This is what I have come to like so far:

    --Heaven Is In Your Mind: Dear Mr Fantasy: Sundazed Mono CD
    --Traffic [Orig: Island 422-842 590-2] Not compared to anything but really like it, might be the best sounding original CD of the lot.
    --Last Exit: Didn't like the remaster, have an original on the way to compare.
    --John Barleycorn [Orig: 7 90058-2 | D 144290 Mfd for BMG Direct Marketing Made in USA by WEA] better than the remaster, frankly a little better than the shm-sacd although they are close, one feels a tiny bit like a copy tape, the other I somehow think about remastering matters less and just enjoy it more.
    --Welcome To The Canteen Island [Orig: Island 422-842 417-2] Not compared to anything but really like it.
    --Low Spark [MFSL]: I thought better than the original and the remaster; somehow more like my vinyl days, where it hits me closer to like it used to transport me back in the day (this and John B. always getting the most vinyl plays) - the track order doesn't bother me for some reason.
    --Shootout: [Island 422 842 781-2 | 2003 Jeff Willins Remaster] this remaster I really like, the other two US remasters I had Barleycorn and Low Spark-- earlier by a few years it seems-- were a bit hot for that music; this remaster, although the same engineer, for some reason is a good bit more dynamic.

    @scocs if you find anyone who can post UK numbers of the original CD albums I have I will post my numbers via XLD if it helps.

    I own a 1st pressing mono U.K. Mr. Fantasy, and the SQ is stellar. I have no doubt the CD remasters are very good if they used the same tape.

    Thank you, Bmoregnr.

    Can anybody post Island Masters EAC values to compare with US Island CDs?

    Does anyone have the EAC values for the Island Masters version of John Barleycorn Must Die (IMCD 40)?

    Thanks!

    If it helps, I have almost every Traffic album in its Original US CD mastering and they all sound excellent.

    I can tell you that the On The Road US CD (422-842 893-2) has different peak levels than the IMCD 183.

    Dear Mr. Fantasy
    S/T
    Last Exit
    John Barleycorn Must Die
    Welcome to the Canteen

    Thank you for your help!

    I can do IMCD UK / French pressings of the following;
    Mr Fantasy – France PDMC which I already know matches the U.S 1987 CID 9061 (Discovery systems)
    Last Exit – France PDMC
    When The Eagle Flies – U.K PDO (bronzing disc)
    On The Road – France PDMC

    The above may vary from other U.S editions.

    Traffic
    Although I don’t have an IMCD copy of Traffic I do have the U.S CID 9081 (Discovery Systems) which differs from the
    2017 5 Classic Albums Box (IMCD?) and the 1999 European Island remasters which differs again as far as levels are concerned.

    John Barleycorn
    Only have the U.S CID, Deluxe Edition and the 5 Classic Album Edition (IMCD?)

    Anyways I’ll get some posted when I can.

    Try to help you.

    I only have "Mr. Fantasy" on European Island 1999 remaster, and other albums on US 2001-2003 remasters, and you are interesting only in European remasters, aren't you?

    According to Foobar2000, EU's Mr. Fantasy has DR 10, Peak level -0.56, RMS -13.6.
    I didn't measured it in EAC, 'cause DR meter offer more useful information about mastering

    Last digital version of Shootout (circa 2003?) really opened my ears to Roll Right Stones and what a fine groove tune it is, especially Roger Hawkins' drumming. Don't know how I missed that for forty years.

    Hi,

    He's asking for the original Island masterings (not remasters), with the IMCD prefix.

    I’ll try and focus around U.K / European IMCD’s and what could be possible IMCD’s from the 5 Classic Albums Collection.

    Mr Fantasy – IMCD 43 (842 783-2) Made in France by PDMC
    EAC;

    IMCD / CID 9061 Peak -2.79 RMS -16.23
    5 Classic Albums Peak -2.79 RMS -16.28

    Mr Fantasy (IMCD 43) matches the values of the U.S CID 9061 and the 2017 5 Classic Albums**
    There is a U.S alternative which has different Peak+/-RMS although has the same DR values throughout (could be a better option?);

    Doing this as quick as I can = slooooow

    Last Exit – IMCD 41 (842 787-2) Made In France by PDMC
    EAC;
    70 / 89.3 / 87.8 / 85 / 76.4 / 66.8 / 69.1
    DR;
    9 / 11 / 10 / 10 / 9 / 10 / 12

    Thought I had a cd alternative of Last Exit, which if I did I cannot locate at the moment (may have to blag one).

    Withering Tree, Medicated Goo and Shanghai Noodle Factory although remastered for Traffic (see above) bonus content have slightly longer endings on Last Exit.
