Or the role could call for him to play an egotistical jerk! :)

It all comes down to the writing.

Is it worth investing in this series what with cast changes?

It's not a series! It's an anthology. The forthcoming season will have absolutely nothing to do with the previous, so 'cast changes' are a moot point. Going into season 1 you knew nothing of the story or the quality of the writing. If you enjoyed it, then think of season 2 in the same terms, except this time around you know about the quality of the writing & production.

No! I've not watched the first season, but I don't want to invest in a anthology with cast changes a 'moot point 'as you say. Maybe I'll pick up the first season at a later date..no rush to buy the blu ray now.

OK. So the Golden Globes deems Fargo a better series than True Detective. And Billy Bob Thornton did a better acting job than Matthew McConaughhey? Whatever. I liked Fargo as well, but thought TD the better of the two.

Looking back, I'd have to say that I enjoyed Fargo a lot more than True Detective (which I still liked a whole bunch).

Billy Bob did a great job on Fargo. The series kept my attention, and I am looking forward to the next version. However, in my opinion True Detective was better and Matthew M was outstanding.

Just re-watched it. Better second time around. Great show. Looking forward to next season.

I think True Detective was better on an episode basis. However, the end to Fargo was a lot more satisfying than the end to True Detective, which left me a bit underwhelmed.

I have watched one particular episode more than once. Suffice to say it involves Woody H's girlfriend.

Seriously, I thought the writing and acting were outstanding, and it is worth another full watching.

I'm going back and watching season one again because at this time other than baseball there's nothing really on that I'm interested in. I just finished episode two and I'm really enjoying this series again.

It'll be interesting to see if Season Two improves upon a repeat viewing. As it stands, no flaw in S2 can impact how wonderful I found the first season (it seems like there has been a lot of negative critical re-appraisal of S1).
