Have a memory of an obscurish sitcom I saw many years ago I'm trying to place. Must have been from the 80s or early 90s at a stretch.

Probably American in origin. Premise was a father and son living together, the mother was absent, perhaps because she was deceased.

Father was a stern but fair straightlaced guy, the son was a somewhat naive jock type.

Show seemed fairly low budget, all shot in studios, mainly set around the home.

Only episode plot I specifically recall was the song dating a 'punk' girl and the father disapproving.

    Ring any bells for anyone?

Top of the Heap with Matt LeBlanc? It was a spinoff of Married With Children.

  3. Your description is similar to Fox's Top Of The Heap.

edit: Sakuraba beat me to it!

Could be, only thing is none of the episode descriptions on the wiki seem to tally with the one plot I recall.

I used to watch all those shows. Remember Second Chance with Mathew Perry? Good times.
