Lever, I spent over $1000 on my MC cartridge, I kind of like to keep it for a while. :righton:

I used to cue by hand until I bought my first Koetsu. After paying for two munched needles, I'll never cue by hand again.

I use the cue lever. My hands are pretty steady, but after hearing that dreaded "srrrratch" just once told me that my hands aren't that steady.

Grant Life is a rock, but the radio rolled me!

I lower the arm to the record by hand because I have a steady hand, but I use the lever to lift it up.

I hand cue most of the time, but I always remove with the lever. I have several warped records which can only be cued by hand, in fact; they play just fine, but if I try to use the cue lever....scraaaatch....

Cue lever every time, why risk an expensive stylus.

By hand. It's quick and easy. I got used to doing those panic cue segues on the radio (drop the needle, pot up and hope for the best). In any case, my cue lever broke a few years ago anyway.

Your post reminds me of the line in Bruce Springsteen's "Mary's Place" (and perhaps Sam Cooke's song too): "I drop the needle and pray..." Art imitates life once again!

Only table I have right now is my old Technics, with its linear tracking arm. No way to do it by hand

    On: by hand
    Off: cue lever
Can't explain but it works for me. I guess I dig the rush of dropping the arm down and it takes me back to the days of my old first AR TT that had no lever.
I don't like reaching across the LP to lift off though.
    Cheers-

No choice with my Well Tempered. It felt awkward at first but it's second nature now.

not only do I always use the lever, but if I'm selecting a band in the middle of a side, I always cue before the end of the previous song, so as not to damage the "silent" vinyl between songs.

    my life is sad.

There are a lot of factors involved. Being an old man, I keep my TT in the light, so i can see the track divisions. My tone arm has a wide finger hook, making it easy to lift or drop, and if I want to be emaculate, I can, either way. But, like most of you, cue lever on the pick up.

    Cue lever?

My first turntable was an AR turntable. I don't remember any cue lever?

Now I have an automatic turntable, but I still have some skills. :D
