Genesis - Selling England by the Pound and Duke.

Both albums feel like a circle of songs with similar motifs and a somewhat audible storyline. Plus, they both show the band during its best-known phases (Gabriel era/trio era) at their respective peaks.

DAF - Ein Produkt der Deutsch-Amerikanischen Freundschaft and Alles ist gut

Quite simple their best albums and truly essential listening.

I've read that both of those records were drawn from the same set of sessions, too. Coulda been one of the great double albums!

Agree, you don't really need to be a completist to have more than two records by a band. You could probably cover most bands having a considerable catalog with around four, though.

The entire GH album is contained in those two albums, except for The Joker.

I've used this joke here before..but while "Odessa" is one of my favorites and far too easily overlooked despite it's importance the red-flocked cover shed more than my girlfriend's cat... Loved the LP, hated the cover... Miss the cat... The girlfriend? - Not so much...
