Two part Led Zep Poll

Yeah, Presence does rock...

 

Am I the only one that calls the first Led Zeppelin album just Led Zeppelin or the s/t album? Cuz... you know... It's not actually called Led Zeppelin I? (Same with Van Halen and Queen).

I picked Led Zeppelin - IV era and for back to back I went with Houses of the Holy and Physical Graffiti.

 

Oh come on. In Through the Out Door is a fantastic album in its own right. Would be a career highlight for most any other band!

What an eight album streak!

 

I picked 1 to 4 for their best period but I love Houses and PG so chose them as my back to back.

 

II and III are my favorite back to back Zeppelin albums. I can't answer the other question. Neither period was "best," just different. My favorites may be II and III, but I don't begrudge the fact that they progressed from the sound of those early albums. The best response I can give is "tie."

Sorry but albums 1-6 are literally interchangeable for me as far as preference order followed by Presence which would be just a hair below those and ITTOD a shade behind Presence.

Back to back (even tho' they aren't) : IV, PG

Without a doubt, III and IV. The darkest and most mysterious two albums. Plus imo Zeppelin were still busting ass to be what I'm sure Jimmy Page wanted; to be the best rock and roll band ever. Good poll by the way.

 

My favorite period is the middle period, III through PG...but that wasn't an option.
I believe it would have won if it was though.

Fave two -HOTH and PG

 

The only ones I listen to are II, Houses, Graffiti and Presence. Oh and Coda.

 

Last four and PG-Presence.

It is difficult fo me to rank Led Zep. Different moods dictate different albums. Tonight they are ranked........
1. Houses Of The Holy
2. LZ III
3. LZ s/t
4. Presence
5. Physical Graffiti
6. LZ IV
7. LZ II

To hard for me to pick my favorite period, so I went with the last four albums because I figured everyone would go with the first 4. hahaha
Physical Graffiti & Presence for back to back for me. Those 2 albums encapsulate everything Zeppelin was about I feel.

 

I would go for I-IV, but this seems to be a oddly arbitrary dividing line. Their commercial peak was from IV - Physical Graffiti, with a large number of fans that would name either HOTH or PG as their very best. Presence and ITTOD, while still very good albums (especially Presence), are clearly weaker than the six amazing albums that preceded them, making it impossible to vote for the second group.

I would split it into trimesters -

I-III
IV-PG
Presence - Coda

I would guess the second group would win a close vote with the first, with the last group garnering less than 5% of the vote.
