Before any of you start moaning about what's Glam or not, I got a lot of these from lists of (supposedly) the best Glam singles. I've included a couple of Christmas songs. No apologies for that. These are 2 of the most well-known Glam singles ever. Pick as many as you like.
Oh yes! Count me in! At work now so I'll look later. A quick glance at the list and there's some absolute belters there. It won't be easy...
Devil Gate Drive - Suzi Quatro Coz I Luv You- Slade Telegram Sam - T. Rex Teenage Rampage- Sweet Seven Seas Of Rhye - Queen (Bang A Gong) Get It On - T. Rex Shang A Lang - Bay City Rollers Fox On The Run - Sweet Merry Christmas Everybody- Slade Ride A White Swan - T. Rex Darryl
I don´t know if it has been mentioned , but Hello´s Another School Day deserve to be among the greatest.
I went with the big hits for this poll. Though I could have included Hello's New York Groove, I suppose..
Well for maybe the first time ever I voted for every track. I genuinely love every single on this list. Actually I just ordered a CD today from Amazon, The Best Glam Rock Album In The World Ever. I did have this CD when it first came out but gave it away years ago when I was a little tipsy/bladdered. It is a really good glam compilation but not perfect, no Gary Glitter for eg
Definitely a poll for multiple selections plus 5x as many compositions I "fancy" An absolute favourite with incredible energy is Roxy Music - The Thrill Of It All. And a quick mention for Wizzard - See My Baby Jive
A blockbusting thirteen. (I do enjoy your polls; even if it's only to rubbish the records!) Virginia Plain Elected Coz I Luv You R&R Pts1/2 (The only Glitter song I like.) Telegram Sam Teenage Rampage Rebel Rebel (My favourite Bowie 45.) Get It On Fox On The Run Drive In Saturday Ride A White Swan Love Is The Drug Plus 'Anything You Fancy' (I'll plump for 'Goodbye Yellow Brick Rd' as EJ seems to be out of polling list favour!)
Lots of great stuff there - I would add Tiger Feet (Mud) and January (Pilot). Favourite on this list would be Drive in Saturday.
Restricting myself to five: Virginia Plain, Teenage Rampage, Rebel Rebel, I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday, Drive-In Saturday. Have never heard Pilot or Mud described as 'glam' before. Who next? Sailor? Kenny? Showaddywaddy? The Rubettes? Racey?
It's obviously a broader church than I'd ever imagined! Odd one out would be... Racey, for turning up too late (and for not being 'glam', but that seems to be no bar to inclusion)?
To the pre-teen me, Mud and Showaddywaddy were completely interchangeable. I'm not feeling strong enough to start researching beyond the hit singles, though...
