Hi can anyone point me in the direction of a reliable internet seller of audio hardware. I'm looking to buy a new stylus but am always slightly wary of the whole online thing. Thanks :)

If you're buying ClearAudio stuff, you will get it MUCH cheaper than you could through a U.S. dealer. For once, the UK price is less than the US price for reasons I can't fathom....

Key in the item on eBay and check prices. I ship worldwide and it does not cost that much.

    Stylus or Cartridge and Stylus??

If it's a replacement stylus, try Musonic or The Stylus Lady.
    Otherwise, Analogue Seduction or Thakker.:righton:

Try Scott Nangle Audio (snvinyl.co.uk) for all things vinyl. Great prices & excellent service.

Not sure I agree. They consistently have the highest prices for every item they happen to stock that interests me, IME.

Try me - jelloalien on eBay

I'm in Canada however, but will ship nearly worldwide. I can get a wide variety of styli, and price cheaper when purchased outside of eBay.

    Shameless plug. Boom.

Ah OK haven't compared their prices - but their knowledge and after sales service is very good imo.

I just bought a new cartridge from Devon hifi online and they were good. Shipping took a few days but communication was superb, really personal and I saved £50 on a Hana EL! I’ll definitely be using him again

They also package their stuff very skimpy. I ordered a $500 cartridge from them and it came in a small padded envelope (not even any extra bubble wrap, etc) from overseas. They told me if it was damaged that it was the mail system's fault. The inner box was roughed up but luckily the cartridge come in a sturdy plastic container from manufacturer. I've never received a cartridge in mail that wasn't shipped in a box to protect inner one. They also said that my cartridge was very hardy and not likely to be damaged by the rough travel. Meanwhile, I was replacing the cartridge because an empty album fell onto it while I was taking a photo. Stylus fine, cartridge damaged.

Oooops, sorry about that. I knew nothing of the negative press re snvinyl. I've ordered from him in the past without any issues.

Although I haven't bought cartridges from them I have used a few of the people mentioned in this thread:
Analogue Seduction very prompt, but not cheap and do like Jiffy bags, I generally use them for the things I can't get elsewhere or they are cheap on.
Scott Nangle, good if he has what you want in stock, a nightmare if he doesn't, I'd use him for vinyl, but would probably avoid for a cart.
Musonic, excellent range and based on friends experiences recommended.
For mainstream products I quite like HiFiX aka Frank Harvey and they sometimes have good prices, worth phoning first to check stock/availability.
I doubt you want to buy a Miyajima, but if you do, they are excellent carts, then I wholeheartedly recommend Hugo and Ammonite Audio.

If you want something obvious like an Ortofon, Audio Technica or Goldring I'd go to your nearest specialist Hi Fi shop, ask nicely and they will probably price match, plus you get advice and backup if there are any problems, also we need to keep the ones we have left.

If you want the cheapest price there are a couple of people on eBay, Turntableworld-uk being one, I'd avoid buying from anyone outside the EU.
