    I have 3:

Peter Green (orig Fleetwood Mac), Mick Taylor (Mayall, Stones) & Dave Edmunds. If you don't consider Edmunds a Blues player, listen:

(The Stumble is a Freddie King song) - The whole LP Love Sculpture - Blues Helping is Blues. And a lot of his later stuff is blues-based.

    Over to you...

Rory Gallagher - he was Irish ...but no list of the great Blues Guitarists or any Guitar player should ignore him.

They may be great rock guitarists but these guys can really belt out the blues.

I totally agree with 3 of your choices but Terry Reid? A blues guitarist? Really??

Clapton may have abandoned his blues roots for a time but he deserves to be on any list of great British blues guitarists.
Add Tony McPhee, Paul Kossoff, Peter Green, Mick Abrahams, Jeremy Spencer & Mick Taylor.

My favourite UK blues guitarist isn't a guitarist, but a bassist.

    Colin Hodgkinson.

I'm not sure I can do better than those. Maybe throw in Danny Kirwan.

Rory Gallagher is Irish so he should not appear on this list. OK . Thank you!

Or to put it another way, why not include Hendrix, Bloomfield, BB etc....

I think that Clapton (IMO) had 2 great Blues moments - Much of Layla and this, which I think has the single best solo he ever played:

There's a name that definitely deserves to be mentioned in front of all these rock players.

I've seen him live twice; he's phenomenal.
