i went to see him last weekend and it was excellent and i had a good time despite the fact that u was at least ten years older than than the oldest fan there. my son who is close in age to yours had no interest. he wants to go to see kendrick lamar next month
Damn, Phil tore it up last night! What a great band he put together. Looking forward to round two tonight. Watch Phil Lesh, Karl Denson and Robert Randolph's Wild "Shakedown Street" Opener at the Cap - Jam Buzz
I like TTB but I LOVED the old Derek Trucks Band. I know that artists need to keep evolving but I was really sad when they called it quits.
In the car: Jerry & Merl - Lion's Share 7/5/73 (Garcia Live Vol. 6) At home: Orange Juice - Rip it Up and now: Emitt Rhodes - s/t
Bingo - You've provided the Public Service Announcement of the year thus far. I've said it before, I'll say it again: It's only with tongue partially in cheek that I count a dozen or so PLF shows among my favourite GDead performances (4/15-17/99?!). Allow me to add track time listings to underscore your original post re: 5/26. 1Shakedown Street - 17:12 2Jack Straw - 09:27 3Almost Cut My Hair - 09:04 4Bertha - 09:42 5West LA Fadeaway - 11:06 6Ophelia - 06:57 7Tennessee Jed - 10:07 8Samson and Delilah - 09:43 9Help On the Way>Slipknot>Franklin's Tower - 22:02 10Viola Lee Blues>Cumberland Blues>Viola Lee Blues - 27:34 11Unbroken Chain - 19:05 12Turn On Your Lovelight - 10:58 13Not Fade Away - 13:32 14Donor Rap - 02:55 15The Weight - 09:39 As my dear departed maternal grandmother would say (without a trace of blasphemy): "Great Jesus, Joseph, and Mary !" Eight billion notes in these renditions (rough count) and not a single one wasted.
It's so damn amazing that's why. The silent spaces in between each riff of Hots on For Nowhere are incredible. It's amazing how in sync they are. I can't get enough of this record.
Went to Midnight Oil last night and they covered "Wharf Rat"! My review for those interested: Midnight Oil announces massive 2017 reunion tour, 3 huge box sets with unreleased music
Pretty sweet pedal steel on one of the tracks here. From my first listen to this, my favorite cuts were always 'Almost Cut my Hair,' and the title cut. When I was in 8th grade, my buddy was a CSN(Y) partisan and I was into Led Zeppelin. We'd argue back and forth Stills vs. Jimmy Page, etc. Nowadays I listen to more CSN than Led Zep.
The person who put this video up, caught the entire jam before they launched into Sweet Jane. This is how Phil's band was rollin' this past weekend.
Disc 2 from Pink Floyd 1969 Dramatis/ation Really something to hear live versions of these 68/69 era Floyd tunes which is their peak, IMO.
The Concertgebouw show is excellent, in spite of some off-key vocals here and there (due to the monitor system malfunctioning, I'm sure). I don't think that's Floyd at their peak, but it's a matter of taste, anyway.
Sure the slightly later stuff is more accomplished. I grew up on all of it but this stuff scorching creative genius. Ummagumma was my first 8 track tape
