"Egyptian Tomb" is such a good opener! I was never that big of a fan of the Action, but this? Yeah, baby. In addition Martin Stone was/is such a great guitar player.
I do like those guys a lot. Kraut, psych and a bit of skronk thrown in for good measure. Like a friendlier Amon Düül II or a less masculine Motorpsycho, feat Fela Kuti in a way. Edit: hopefully you've seen this one, it is really cool:
Spinning vinyl tonight: R.E.M. - Murmur (Holland pressing) Stan Getz - Sweet Rain (mono promo) amazing sound and performance on this one! Ty Segall - Manipulator and now... Steve Hackett - Spectral Mornings
I've been listening to this: Monster. Haven't really listened to the album itself in the last 20 years and I have absolutely no idea why because it is fantastic. The live stuff is incredible as well. Dense and even heavier than anything that came before.
This is pretty awesome. McLaughlin, Hammer and Cobham are all beyond great (ofc) but Jerry Goodman is godlike:
Remarkable musicians, a great band, but somehow they don't thrill me that much. I have their first two albums, anyway.
The live stuff is the best. Kinda like a couple of other bands we like... Speaking of which, you should seriously consider that THRAK box, man. It is really something.
Hey, it's the extras you really need. That version of "21th Century" with Levin on bass (The album is fantastic, BTW)
I'm pretty sure one day I'm gonna get that box, but lately I've been trying to buy records only when I want them bad. When I get thrakmania, I will buy it desperately.
And pay accordingly But yeah, I try to do the same. Not like in the bad old day when I actually bought everything by everybody all the time.
Some people in this forum would call me crazy, but I like the Ryko version of Low quite a lot. Masterings aside, the album is one of David's masterpieces.
Springsteen and Van Zandt in Tempe, AZ Nov 5 1980. 24 track mixed by Bob Clearmountain. Goes great with a 6.2% IPA from Dalarna
