Also been on a Beatles kick lately. The Esher demos sounds great. Looking forward to hearing the whole thing.
The new remix is not much of a remix really. McCartney's bass sounds great. A top ten Beatle song for sure. Now, give us the mid 60s albums in remixed stereo. They really need it!
Selections from the awesome box set celebrating Mats Gustafsson’s 50th birthday One of the first things I’d suggest to listeners interested in current improvised music as played by masters from their 20’s to their 70’s sampled in all kinds of configurations and instrumention. Curated wonderfully so I suspect we get much of the best of the multiple day festival whittled down to 4 discs. I’d like 10 or 12 discs but this isn’t the Dead
Lots and lots of Jayhawks, Golden Smog, etc. I recently heard a song that I'm fairly certain has to involve Gary Louris, but I can't find it. It's driving me crazy.
I love the White Album, but I simply won't be able to afford the upcoming release (that money's going to Dylan's box). Those demos are interesting partly due to the double-tracked vocals.
Disc 5. The Velvet Undeground and Nico live, 11/4/66. Lo-fi, but very listenable recording. The first track, a 28-minute-long instrumental starts with several minutes of feedback sculpting (we Dead fans are familiar with this kind of things) that evolve into a trance droning minimalistic improvisation.
I revisit it quite often. It was the first VU album I heard (some 20 years ago). I remember falling in love with "Sweet Jane" immediately.
The "first side" of that one is fantastic. It's definitely taken some time to sink in but these days it's near the top of my Bowie favs. The band he hired to make that album was incredible, and that's where Stevie Ray Vaughan was introduced to most people. It's a shame he didn't tour. It's also a shame I missed that tour although I did later see him twice. Still my favorite. You're a good lad. Still hitting up the English Beat. This is pretty cool here. Dave Wakeling is one of the more underrated vocalists.
Allman Brothers Band (with Jerry Garcia, Boz Scaggs and Bill Kreutzmann) December 31, 1973, Cow Palace; Daly City, CA Such a good show. So glad i finally own it in it's remastered entirety on 4 retail CDs.
The tour sessions are excellent and that would have been something why didnt he tour was it the terms they didnt agree on? saw him open up for the moody blues a few weeks after the moonlight tour it certainly was a eye and ear opening experience only saw one headline show after. Cant believe he has been gone so long. Wonder if he would have taken a similar road to mr winter or something funkier
Cool show. I'm glad that I didn't spend any money on it though. I have the flacs and play them on my Oppo. Gratis is good and CDs are annoying. To each his own my friend.
First listen to Clusone Trio, I Am An Indian, another in the well regarded @Dahabenzapple ’s Picks series. I like it; it’s an interesting mix of performances that are accessible while still going places, and I like the overall feel/mood.
