I'll admit that I've never heard his Bobness' mid-80s albums in full. In fact, I've only heard three or four albums from the period between Slow Train Coming and Time Out of Mind.
Road burn from a 4 hour trip of wrecks, jams, vs 30 minutes of funeral, twining the mind around the cerebral thread mesh of Lester Bang's Main Lines, Blood Feast and Bad Tastes readings--his mid 70's Stones take--lol, all in one today. Leading to plunge directly into, the maelstrom of the late seventies Pearly Gates of Hell. A rock and roll family trifecta of snarly, wicked funny, and steeped toasts to the end of decade littered with ups, downs, mad as hellhounds and all-arounds. Made all the better by a Crown strong, the soda... rocks. Original mix on Broken English is fabulous, so is the cocktail...
My purple/pink split color wax 2LP finally came in this weekend. Giving it a first spin now. Kurt Vile - Bottle It In
I got turneded on to this on the Japanese Psych thread and although it's a little light and airy for my usual tastes I have to say I dig it:
This is a true double album, running about 78 minutes. I took a break after the first LP to watch The Walking Dead. I put on Side C not long ago. It blew my mind. So, so, so good. The first record had a lot of variety and was fun. Side C though is deep. The title track followed by "Mutinies" was a hell of a one-two punch. Wow. I'm on the final side now and I must say that "Skinny Mini" is now my current favorite love song. All three of the 9 to 10 minute long jams on this album suck you in to their world. Great stuff.
Song of the day: Magnolia by JJ Cale Whippoorwill's singing Soft summer breeze Makes me think of my baby I left down in New Orleans I left down in New Orleans Magnolia, you sweet thing You're driving me mad
Neil Young Live at Massey Hall 1971. Neil playing solo, it doesn't get any better. Fantastic photo taken by Joel Bernstein. I'm really forward to the new live acoustic compilation that Bernstein and Cameron Crowe put together from the 1976 tour.
I wrote almost three pages today, so I'm moderately pleased. I've earned me some music time: The brilliant final album by Mr. Jones.
The Beau Brummels - Bradley's Barn Recorded contemporaneously with Sweetheart of the Rodeo and released about a month later. A gem of roots rock/country rock/americana/cosmic music/what have you. Incidentally, here's a post with some good country-rock albums listed, and you can tell it's quality because it includes Bradley's Barn. It does not include anything by Commander Cody, John Prine, or Emmylou, though, so it still needs some work.
Pearl Jam 7/17/18 chEddie’s voice sounds bad, new song still blows live, stupid trite expected political diatribe. I think I will go back to the 2000 Binaural boots

cleaned a big ole stack of records. Some have not been opened before tonight. Some have never been listened. I should be fine for the next week or so.
