Assault on Precinct 13 (original) - while people like this film in general it isn't considered that great, but I think it's fantastic from start to finish. The killing of the girl, the atmosphere, the bullets hitting the station, acting is pretty solid, tension and pace maintained throughout. It's one of my favourite films of all time. It didn't spawn a genre like Halloween but I think it's a better film. For the record The Thing is in my top three films of all time.

Nightcrawler - brilliant film and the fact Gyllenhaal didn't get nominated for an Oscar, and win it, is beyond me. Everything about this film is class, Gyllenhaal, Russo, Paxton and Ahmed just are on top form and it builds beautifully to a wonderful ending. This should be an iconic film of the decade.

Attack of the Clones - bear with me! It's no masterpiece but I see it ranked often as the worst SW film, when I think it's ok and pretty good in parts. All you have to do is remove the awful love scenes and you have a solid movie.

Spider-Man 3 - another film that gets slaughtered. My take is that if you watch it as a comedy than it's great. It's most like the Evil Dead films than the other Spider-Man films Raimi did in that respect, and the Sandman origin scene is one of the best in the trilogy.

One of my all time favorite comedies. The entire cast is hilarious and over the top. (And Renee Russo is
    extremely attractive in it).
Contains one of my all time favorite lines in a comedy. When Sizemore and Knoxville (probably the most inept
and dumb characters in the history of film) have the young Zooey Deschanel prisoner in the car, they have to get
out and Sizemore tells her "And don't do anything stupid" and Zooey, in her usual deadpan voice, says:
"How would YOU even KNOW if I did anything stupid?"

This is an extremely underrated comedy (anyone I mention it to have never heard of it..) and may
be one of my top 5 favorite films. A simply remarkable cast (Robert Downey, Kevin Klein, Whoopie
Goldberg, Elizabeth Shue, an absolutely amazing and hilarious Cathy Moriarty, and many others).
But the real surprise is Sally Field in the main starring role. I've never seen her so over the top
hilarious and beautiful. She should have easily gotten an Oscar for this.
Thought I'd add the trailer...gives you an idea of what you're in for....

Not to hijack the thread, but 1952's Singing in the Rain --the iconic American musical-- lost the Best Picture Oscar to--( drum roll )-- The Greatest Show on Earth, that deMille pile of carp. Perhaps a more egregious example of poor choice exists, but I can't think of one.

I think "Lone Star" is rated pretty high, it's just that either no one saw it or has totally forgotten. That's a shame.

Clifford (1994). Between the sheer lunacy of a forty-year-old Martin Short portraying a ten-year-old hellspawn and a perfectly typecast Charles Grodin as the stressed-out-of-his-mind uncle, the film is nothing short of a deranged masterpiece.

Just watched it again the other night. Great movie.

An interesting bit of trivia about the movie that some may not have observed. Gale Gordon, who played played Walter Seznick in "The Burbs" also played Lucille Ball's boss, Harrison Otis 'Uncle Harry' Carter, in the "Here's Lucy" show in the 70's. If you look closely in the interior shots of Walter Seznick's home in "The Burbs" when they all break in to find out what happened to Walter, there are photos of Lucille Ball on a couple of his tables.
