Thoughts about the trailer and the upcoming movie?

I have always loved Laurel and Hardy. I think they chose the right actors for this movie, just looking at the trailer makes me think this movie might get an oscar.

I love Laurel and Hardy. Always have. My oldest grandsons watched them with me one day. They were bored. Me Bean..... they laughed out loud and took my DVDs home to watch them. Very similar type of comedy if you ask me. Not much of a movie guy and it looks to have a little drama thrown in but I may go see this.

Well the casting is UNCANNY. I'm in. John C Reilly may well get an Oscar out of this if the trailer is any indication.

My dad had 8mm copies of a bunch of Laurel and Hardy movies that he would project for us when my brother and I were kids. Some silent, some sound. My mother would make us popcorn and it always felt like a special occasion. Some of my best memories of childhood.

Watched the trailer last night and thought that it looks very good, particularly the casting and portrail of the leads. I hope that 'the untold story' as they subtitled it, is an accurate account of events, and not too fictionalised for the screen.

This looks absolutely fantastic. Though it's very, very heavy on the CGI digital VFX backgrounds.

True, but then again i think it's quite hard to find places that look like 1920's-1930's. Again they could have just used studios to use props.

I'll see this film, but I don't think it will be a big hit. .

I read several books about the pair and that was years ago, perhaps my memory is bad, but ... I do not recall any huge rift in their relationship that the trailer seems to be centred on. And IIRC Laurel was supportive of Hardy appearing in 'The Fighting Kentuckian' (I'm assuming that's the movie alluded to, in which Hardy appears without Laurel).

Lets see what this untold story is about. Hopefully they don't use too much fiction.

I forgot that Hal Roach paired Hardy with Harry Langdon in the '30s for a film or two when Roach let Laurel's contract expire. That may be the reference about making a film "with that other guy".

The actors nail the characters and the "look" of the trailer is good. But, boy, I sure hope that there are some joyous moments to the story. That trailer makes their lives look absolutely miserable.

L&H guru Richard Bann, who has seen the film, highly recommends it and says the trailer over-emphasizes any conflict...which is not a big component of the film.

Roach promoted Langdon and Hardy as a team in ZENOBIA, but they really aren't a team in the movie. Hardy is the star, and Langdon is one of the supporting players.

Looks manipulative and "holywoodized" as heck. Plus if you've seen the trailer you've basically seen the whole movie arc.

I too love Laurel an Hardy, their comedy is timeless and from the looks of this trailer this film may do them justice.

The story and arc really aren't important, we pretty much know what happened...the appeal will be in the personalities and moments.

It looks great. I can't wait to see it. I hope this will also bring back some of the original L&H films and shorts which seem to have been absent from TV for decades.

Didn't Abbot & Costello steal their thunder, eclipse them in the nineteen forties ?
