I have read that upgrading the power supply (wall wart) to your phono preamp can help with the sound. I have a Bellari VP530 plugged into a power conditioner using the stock wall wart.

I am not very familiar with different power options. Can anyone recommend an upgrade for my VP530.

Here is a link to my phono preamp:

Power supply upgrade can help. I have heard both good and bad things about the Bellari, so it is hard to say. If I were looking in that price range, I would be tempted to audition this one:

    and maybe this one:

Either one can be customized to match your cartridge. I tend to think that the pots in the signal path on the Bellari may be a limiting factor in the design. I would be very surprised if you did not get much better results with either unit I linked. Maybe you will get some other suggestions as well. Good luck!

This might help....I remember looking into this for my squeezebox touch....IIRC the issue was the power supply being a switching type. Perhaps if you figure that out on yours you might find more info to help....IE if it's not a switching type there may be no reason to upgrade??

Thanks, but I am happy with my Bellari. I was just curious if upgrading the wall wart would make it better.

Sry. Misread the title as or instead of for.

The power input is 12 to 15 volts DC, around an amp's worth. I'd opt for a gel cell or some gel cells and a charger for the battery/battery array. Run off of battery power, charge when you're not listening. I've made these sorts of power supplies, usually improve sound by virtue of less stray a/c. Increasing the number of batteries increases the amp-hours and tends to improve the bass. Capacitors can further filter out the battery's self-noise.

Measure the Volts of your current wall wart, then try one with a slightly higher output (within the 12 - 15 range) and see if you like it (rated 1000 mA or higher as well).

Are you hearing some background noise, like hum or hiss?

Ever check out Shunyata? I just upgraded all of my power to their stuff. My dealer has a lot of experience with the line and their literature and videos are very convincing.

You want the enercell 273-332 wall wart from Radio Shack. I used a Bellari for a couple months and that adapter along with a nicer tube made a huge improvement

Then I recommend leaving it as-is. Auditioning different tubes will be more fun and can have a much more dramatic effect.

Excellent! That should be easy enough and not too expensive either.

I already upgraded the tube to a Gold Lion.
