I would have liked see at least Live '73 and Sweet Freedom released.

I wanted "Return To Fantasy" but the bonus discs so far have been a waste of money and plastic, including all those pointless "outfakes".

Eh, at least it seems that the proper albums are mastered well and they aren't expensive. They're all on Amazon for about $12. If this was ten years ago they'd all be $30.

True, but the problem is that they left off the more interesting bonus material from previous editions to accomodate mostly rubbish.

that's too bad the reissues are not continuing. I was enjoying getting into the band naturally as they came out. don't know if I can handle the case design style changing if I continue on with older cds...

Have they been officially canceled or is this just speculation?

  10. Purely speculative. If madam Cleo was so clairvoyant, she would have seen her indictment coming! :yikes:

Do you think BMG will send an official announcement to the press?

They should. Making a statement without any proof or at least revealing a source can only be taken as speculation.

However, Too bad, I would have liked to see Sweet Freedom.

I have named a source (Claus hasn't) - only that it's not a complete confirmation. But you know, with all the hype around the first couple of reissues and the short period between the first double and the next triple, you would think we'd know something by now?

Unfortunate. I was looking forward to them all.

I was going to pick up all the ones with David Byron at least.

I was hoping the John Lawton albums would get a release as well.

I just don't understand the reasoning behind what BMG are doing...

Heep's catalogue have been re-mastered at least twice before, and altough Andy McPearce's mastering is far superior compared to the previous remasters and the digipacks are cool, there wasn't enough interesting bonus material for most people to buy those albums again. They could have at least remixed the bonus material, as those 90's mixes sound pretty awful in places.

Anyway, they could have released remastered Live '73 as a one disc, Sweet Freedom with the out-takes and the KBFH show, and the remixed Shepperton show could have been released with Wonderworld.

Possibly but they quickly left the shelf in my local HMV store ( a major UK retailer) whilst there are always a few of the 90's remasters in stock. These latest remastered never seem to get replenished so whether that's indicative of limited available and low in print I don't know? I like how Andy McPearce extended the songs by repeating a verse or extending the intro/outro etc but to some it may be sacred edge but I enjoy it.

That wasn't Andy Pearce (why McPearce?), who only handled the first discs. The remixing/extending was done by Rob Corich. I think it would have been better to remaster all available music (including original mixes of b-sides and actual outtakes) and then filling up the remaining space with whatever "alternate mixes" there were.

I don't think they have crappy 90s outfakes to add as bonus tracks for those.
