As you can tell, I'm not very familiar with the singles of the 80's. :p

Michael Jackson - The Way You Make Me Feel
Elton John - Candle in the Wind
Aerosmith - Dude (Looks Like a Lady)
Prince - I Could Never Take the Place of Your Man

Some good songs here. "FAITH" is a given, as are "GOT MY MIND SET ON YOU", "VALERIE", "DUDE (LOOKS LIKE A LADY)" and the live "CANDLE IN THE WIND". The best song on the list, though, is - for me - "NEED YOU TONIGHT" by INXS. Not a band that I enjoyed all that much, but this songs is sneaky, slinky and sexy. Great hook, great build-up of expectations. Love it. I love Jennifer Warnes, but I can´t decide whether I love or hate "(I´VE HAD) THE TIME OF MY LIFE". There´s something too commercial about it, yet I love the interplay of their voices. OK, I like it. :righton:

Normally I like Eric Carmen, but "HUNGRY EYES" is too bland for me.

Although it doesn't say, I think that's a live version of Candle In The Wind.

I'm so pleased there's finally a Prince song in one of these polls for you to vote for.:D

I´m convinced it was the live version from "Live in Australia".

I always thought INXS were a kind of Rolling Stones-lite. Still their Kick album had some great songs and I voted for the one in the poll too.

I hadn´t thought of that, but yes, their styles are similar. I like some of their songs, but not that many. (The same applies to the Rolling Stones themselves.) But "Need You Tonight" is delicious.

    Just three votes for me:

    Faith- George Michael
    Hazy Shade of Winter- Bangles
    There's the Girl- Heart

That's a great forgotten Heart song. Nancy sings lead on it. Very catchy, and I'm usually much more about '70s Heart than '80s Heart. Cool Bangles cover too.

I love the Icehouse song. I bought the CD single. They weren't easy to come by in 1987. I still have it.

I can see where 80s haters detest this stuff, but this is my childhood and a good time for pop music. Never really liked "Faith" though there were other George Michael songs from that album I loved.

I thought Faith was a great short, sharp single. The exact opposite of the overblown I Want Your Sex.

The album had something for everyone, though.

The song "Faith" evokes so many kinds of music - from the organ intro, the acoustic guitars, the vocal... So much music, in so few seconds. A great song for the ages.

I always thought about the content of "Seasons Change," especially the last line of the chorus, what a waste for someone to just throw away anything relating to the future or planning for same, because of one's obsession for the moment. As for the others, I voted for #2 - 4, 7, 10 - 12, 24, and 25. Some other cogent observations:
    - #6 - Obviously not the same as the Human League record . . .
    - #13 - Much prefer the studio Goodbye Yellow Brick Road version. But who would've thought a decade after this it'd have a cheesy rewrite?
    - #15 - For me, it's Simon & Garfunkel or nothing.
    - For me, even when #21 was new, it was overexposed.

I voted for 15, but that's me being selective... I also like a few of the songs I didn't vote for. In fact, the one song I never, ever listen to or put on playlists is the live "Candle In The Wind", and that's because I prefer the 1973 version (and I don't think the Live In Australia album is exactly Elton, or Elton's voice, in his prime either). My absolute favourites on the list, in approximate order, are:

    1 Faith
    2 Catch Me (I'm Falling)
3 Heaven Is A Place On Earth
    4 Don't You Want Me
5 Tell It To My Heart
6 A Hazy Shade Of Winter
7 I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man
    8 Shake Your Love
    9 Valerie
    10 Crazy

The songs I like least (besides Elton) are "Is This Love" (a formulaic power ballad, which itself is not a problem, but it's a bit tedious), "Got My Mind Set On You" (never really liked it), "Cherry Bomb" (not one of Mellencamp's best for me, and I loved "Paper In Fire" off the Lonesome Jubilee album), "That's What Love Is All About" (too overwrought, even for me), and (shock, horror) "The Way You Make Me Feel", which I've just never really, really liked, and to be honest, my opinion of the Bad album has dropped quite a lot. Perhaps I listened to it too much in 1987/88, but it feels very dated to me now (and too calculated, if that's the word).

I always hated that the cd version of I Want Your Sex had both pt. 1 and pt. 2, when the single version (simply pt. 1 without segueing into pt. 2) as a track on its own is fine enough
