I disagree in my opinion the original CD release of Fair Warning is the best sounding out of the first six albums. My copy sounds excellent with a warm and full sounding bass.

Right, I should have certainly been more specific. I prefer the original WB CD releases compared to the WB 2000 CD Remaster Series, which I owned every title and had listened to for some time before I eventually unloaded after an A/B comparison. (Still love my original Vinyl best!!)

My (unheard) understanding is that the VH I DCC release is phenomenal, but as I have not heard that release, I cannot compare it to the original or the 2000 remasters.

I can however agree with comments that I have read over the years here in the stellar SH Forum that the VH 2000 remasters are among the worst remasters that I have ever heard personally...

I've got it, and it is! My second favourite DCC (I don't have many), after 'Empire' by Queensryche.

Wow, Empire, what a GREAT album!! The Queensryche commercial remasters were no great shake either...

The DCC is hands down the greatest improvement over the original I've ever heard.

I wouldn't go that far. They are far too compressed and loud, but I can think of many examples that are much worse.

The Scorpions, just to name one example.

Yep, like I said, "among the worst remasters that I ever heard personally". The VH remasters were the ones that really jarred me into more informed decisions when upgrading.

And yes, I did also own that Scorpions remaster....as terrible as your wavs look!!! Love the album, love my LP, hated that remaster!! Glad to have the original US CD now (but still prefer the LP)!!

Back in the 80's, my transfer from the Fair Warning LP to a Maxell MX 90, blew out more than one pair of Jensen slimline 100 watt 6x9s in my '72 Camero.

They were dreadful! I wish someone would do a half-decent remaster of 'Rage for Order' and make me a happy man!

John, I'm with ya man. HD download fans are on the forums. That's fine. I have no beef with them. But, I hate downloading. It's a pain in the ass & doesn't feel like I own jack s***

    That's all.

I just got an original 'target' CD of the first album. Incredible mids and treble, bass falls way short of what it should be!

I agree on the owning something. I only do HD downloads when they come with the vinyl, or to supplement the vinyl for the car and work

ok, got my last one of the originals today. WACF and compared it to the remaster. wow, what a big difference. the remaster is way too loud and harsh... the original sounds great and smooth..

You won't even notice they're missing after listening to the DCC.

Welcome to the forum Mr. Aboud. I like your suits :)

Which cds are much better than what?

I believe the vinyl reissue of the debut from a few years back was based on the DCC tapes. I have it and it's hands down the best version of the debut that I have heard. It's incredible.

  23. What is meant by DCC tapes? Copy of master tapes? Or master tapes were obtained by DCC? Which vinyl reissue was from these tapes? Gray/Hoffman Rhino edition? Thanks.

I believe it is documented on this forum that the Rhino reissue used the DCC stampers.

If you can't do the 24/192 downloads from HD Tracks (avoid the 24/96, they have heavy compression) then get the original cds.

If you have the 2000 remasters, use them in the car.
