sounds like I can safely pass on this movie and wait for the DVD.

i guess just like Underworld, Kate Beckinsdale doesn't save the movie.

after seeing the trailer a few times in the past 2 months, I didn't have much hope for the movie anyway.

I guess I'm the Ebert to your Roeper - I didn't much care for either Mummy movie and I thought Hellboy was very good - far more imaginative than...well, you know.

The fact that Jimbo didn't like it gives me reason for pause. I was gung-ho about seeing it because I thought it looked cool, but I may wait for it on DVD.

Nope the lovely kate does not save the movie.

In fact she's a major liability with that goofy Lugosi inspired accent.

No wonder her family was wiped out by bloodsuckers; no kills in the last 100 years ?
Geez, with that record they should have kept their day jobs.

    :p

I know.....hearing her do a bad Transylvania accent made everyone laugh at the trailer I had seen (is there a good Transylvania accent?)

When will Kate appear in a decent film? She is such a beauty.

Maybe they should have cast Count Chocula for an authentic Transylvanian accent???

I was shocked--shocked!--to see Roger Ebert give this movie a thumb's up on today's TV show. Hard to believe he saw the same movie I did.

Ebert (thumb up) and Roeper (thumb down) split on this one.

My 11 year old cousin gave it an absolute "thumbs down". I guess I'll be skipping this one. :sigh:

Given that I listen primarily to only heavy metal music, then I guess it makes perfect sense why I enjoyed this movie when everyone else seems to dislike it so much.

Was I expecting something that would win an Oscar for screenplay? No. Was I expecting best actor/acress awards? No. Were the special effects perfect? No. But, the movie had enough fun factor to carry it through all this IMHO and make me glad that I saw it.

Me, my wife and my eight-year old son all enjoyed this movie quite a bit (as well as most of the people around us judging from their comments afterwards), plus most importantly, it was what my wife asked for us to go do on Mother's Day. YMMV

She was good in Serendipity opposite John Cusack.
