According to this blog post from last year, Van offered to allow WB the opportunity to release deluxe editions of Astral Weeks, Moondance, and His Band and Street Choir albums in return for the rights to said albums:

Now this is total speculation as far as I can tell. But maybe, just maybe, there is the tiniest chance that WB may decided that this would be a worthwhile endeavor. Again, total speculation.

Wasn't this the one title in his catalog that has never been remastered due to some litigation of some kind?

If true, what in the heck is on the 4cd set?

The Japanese market got remasters on CD of those three albums as well. The tambourine is on that issue too. All three sound fantastic.

This set sounds great, but why only 24/48 on the Blu-Ray disc, especially if there is no video content?

Is there an official link for these reissues? I checked Google for "van morrison moondance box set" and found nothing. Has a release date been announced?

Where do you get ONLY 24/48 on the Blu Ray disc? You can have a 24/48 surround mix on BR as well as a 24/96 or 24/192 stereo mix

There was a DVD-A prepared for Moondance back in the (non) heyday. I would think it would have been at least 96/24 no?

The big question is, has Uncut been reading the Steve Hoffman forums? I do think there are details here that weren't put in that now deleted post.

Van Morrison is to release a deluxe edition of his 1970 album, Moondance.
It will be released by Warner Bros on September 30 across various formats.

It will be presented in a linen-wrapped folio and includes a booklet with liner notes from Alan Light and original engineer Elliot Scheiner.

A single disc limited edtion is being released in Japan on July 24 as part of a big Forever Young series reissue. I don't know if it uses the same "Into The Mystic" mix as the last release.

    Are these all tambourine takes?

Let's hope there's some isolated tambourine on disk 3.

Cool, now please give us a similar release of Astral Weeks as well. A well mastered version in hi-res would be just fantastic.

Good news indeed. 2 of the most important albums from this era. One can never have enough copies of either M or AW. UK; US; JPN; Deluxe, etc. Bring it all on.

I like this album, but box sets like these with different versions of the same song sequentially tracked are very annoying... can't image I'd ever listen to discs 2 through 4 in their entirety more than once (if that). Decent price though compared to other uber deluxe versions. I may be interested in the two disc set, depending on the reviews.
