Don't especially want to choose between these two. I do indeed think Vertigo is Hitchcock's greatest film, but Rear Window is his most perfect.

Both are great but Rear Window has always been a favourite of mine.

Very hard to argue with that.

I say this all the time. Grace Kelly. Hubba Hubba.

In my opinion, Rear Window is a much better film.

Both are brilliant in their own ways. Vertigo is more enigmatic and self-consciously arty so film buffs can talk about it endlessly and be right. Rear Window has its own subtleties but is more straightforward so doesn't tend to prompt as much discussion.

Rear Window is brilliant, but Vertigo is a stunning, disturbing masterpiece unequalled in Western cinema. Contains Stewart's greatest performance, Herrman's best score and Hitchcock at the absolute top of his game. Rear Window loses something on repeated viewings, Vertigo gains and gains ...

adam62 said it perfectly. VERTIGO it is.

REAR WINDOW is great, and Grace Kelly is easy to look at, but VERTIGO is an unequalled masterpiece.

Vertigo is a masterpiece as far as I'm concerned. Rear Window probably is as well, but just ever so slightly less so. I consider both films to be essential.
