New season starts tonight on History Channel.

Like last season, this season will be split up into 2 parts of 10 episodes each. The first 10 episodes will run through January, 2018 and the last 10 episodes are supposed to air later in 2018.

Tonight's season premiere will show the first 2 episodes (a 2-parter) of the new season back to back at 9:00 and 10:00 PM EST. But one hour prior to the premiere at 8:00 PM will be a recap of the first 4 seasons regarding Lagertha's story.

I was completely confused with Floki. The guy looks like a different actor but the credits say he's still played by Gustaf Skarsgård.

I'm not privy to what happened historically.

But Ivar, thus far, is a completely believable nutjob.

I'd think twice before I kidnapped Lagartha's main wench.

Floki is taking another trip to coo-coo town.

And I have a feeling that Athelstan's (?) son will grow up to kick some ass.

So... what's the story about the badass English priest that rushed into battle? He seems to be a main player this season that I don't even recall seeing before.

Bishop Heahmund, he was actually introduced in the last episode of season four. “As with most Vikings characters, Heahmund is based on a real-life figure from history and the Viking Era. Heahmund was the Bishop of Sherborne, who fought against the Viking invasion and was eventually canonized”

Not many watching this season, huh?

Sort of lukewarm about this season. I had wondered if this could continue without Ragnar. I guess I'm still wondering.

Ivar has all the combat training he could want from Ragnar, but no joy or wonderment... even in victory.

Bjorn has Ragnar's adventurousness (?)... but no street smarts.

Floki wants to take villagers to God's place... which happens to be on a volcano.

If I have to ask if I care about these people it might just mean that I've decided I don't.

Much better with Ragnar & Rollo. Still better than most of the drivel on TV today though.

And how many times do the English have to get ambushed before they start looking out for ambushes (ambi)? I don't know how historically true this series is... but it seems like lazy writing.

I like this show a lot. But... the episode with that big battle between the two sides of Vikings. Ivar against Bjorn. The setup took a suicidally long time. I've never thought this show was boring. But that was.
