Did you ever notice how the "Village Green Preservation Society" credits Ray Davies with "keyboards", when much of the work (Mellotron, fancy piano, etc.) is clearly the work of Nicky Hopkins. I heard that Hopkins was livid about this omission and vowed never to work with the Kinks again. (He never did.) Ironically, years later, as part of a New York Times Sunday Magazine devoted to famous people writing about lesser-know people who had passed on, Ray Davies wrote about Hopkins but neglected to mention this parting of the ways. There was a sad irony! Made me think of the phrase "turning in his grave."
