A few more prized possessions I own (all found originally at thrift stores, lucky for me!)

Eddie Costa - The House of Blue Lights
    Thelonious Monk/Sonny Rollins - Monk

Pervis Lee - Himself (I just found this over the past weekend. It's recorded in Charlotte, NC, where I live. I honestly had no clue about the album as I purchased it, but it sorta said "this might be something" to me. And boy, was I right! - Highly collectable!)
Bob Gordon - Meet Mr. Gordon

This one. Signed by old line-up with Hillel Slovak, Cliff Martinez, Anthony Kiedis & Flea in late 1985.
So happy I got mine today!

I bought it on ebay with no other bids for a very ok price and just received it)

Yes, for me it's really important, cause FS is my favorite album and Slovak is one of my favorite guitar players ever.

    Hi MightyV,

Just saw your post ...five months late, today.
Very interested in your knowledge/info on the early Crimson promo pressings!!
I have two copies of the Court 7" promo, guess I'll have to look at them.
They both look like the same Atlantic RED/white labels..
Please do post any pics if possible. I have a hard time posting pics here..
Is there some way of reading or learning this type of information somewhere ? ?
Any info on any US acetates, test pressings, promo's etc ? I would deeply appreciate more details.
Been trying to find things for years, have only found a UK test of Centipede, UK Decca 7" G,G&F One in a Million acetate, and Sterling Sound box w/ 2 one-sided
acetates of There Of A Perfect Pair.

    Thanks for any info, pics.

I don't have much of anything "prized", but I guess looking through my collection if I did it would most likely at least be these 2 albums, a still sealed, mint, no bar code, who knows how early Electric Ladyland and a mint/mint Rolling Stones 3D TSMR. Note even the cloud paper liner is still mint, (I have the record in a Mo Fi sleeve.)

...see actual photos I just took. This is unique and like nothing I've seen. It is NOT a bootleg.
The audio is as good as a mint, short run, virgin vinyl audiophile pressing, long before the stamper is worn out.

Vinyl promo labels (I have read) were sometimes contracted out to small plants for pre-release promos.

The label is nothing like any Canadian or US label, promo or not! The theory I've had presented to me by friends in the industry is that it is a label that was created by a small printing/pressing plant (as was often done) and in this case, when the actual label was not available...so they created this one.

Notice the unique way that the LoVE logo is treated by just using simple helvetica text, and the Elektra "E" is black NOT gold; I've never seen that done on a standard label (notice the gold background ink too--very cool and unique, nothing like it on any standard Elektra label)

    Standard label...

Any thoughts or info on promos such as this are welcome!

    Cheers!

Yep... this is the one that I know of.
But, one thing I've learned in years of collecting Beatles and Dylan, etc...
Anything can happen that we did not know of prior, it's just the authenticity factor.
There were so many different promos/acetates/ test discs made...
For instance- I was just informed that there were three (3) different US promo 7" 45's of King Crimson's "Court Of The Crimson King"
Another rare example would be the checker-boxed embossed Columbia Records LP label of an early Dylan album.
And finally the different super rare Fab4 Hollywood Bowl LP acetates I posted around 34 0r 35th page of this thread.

Ahhh.... I love the smell of acetates in the morning.

Discogs frustrates me, do they just not post photos of label variations or am I just not looking in the right place ?
