Hi folks. So I walk into one of my favourite shops and spy a copy of Steely Dan's Katy Lied, "Master Recording", Japanese pressing, 1975. "Yikes, in really great shape," I say to myself as I give the vinyl a careful visual check. So I slap down the cash, and while I'm at it, also buy a mint copy of the much less popular "Royal Scam" LP for just a few bucks. When I get home and play Katy, the sound is TOTAL crap. Muddy sonics, just plain awful. $20 down the drain. Then I play the the Royal Scam LP. Glorious sound. Clean. Quiet. Sparkling sonics. For less than half the price. "How can this be?" I ask myself. Forget it John, it's vinyl. Returned Katy for a credit. Let the buyer beware.
