Thanks. I figured if anyone knew around here it would be you. :)

Not sure. The last MBM album that I bought was 'Live '05' back in 2005.

It's similar to where the prices of all that original LLN stuff were going a few years back. And some of the stuff from Boris is so rare it's ridiculous. I've given up trying to complete a Boris collection, much less Coil. And I sold most of my LLN vinyl. (now kicking self)

I tried to keep up with the Boris releases for years. I did a pretty good job, but some releases would be sold out by the time I heard about them (within the first week).

That eventually made me lose interest in trying to keep up. Now I get their 'major' releases and don't really follow the limited stuff anymore.

(I'm glad that I got what I did, when I did though.)

  8. Don't fret, most people who weren't into industrial/underground electronic music didn't know who they were when they were around, either.

And even for those of us who did...well, believe me, it was not easy to get a copy of Horse Rotorvator when you lived in a small Albertan prairie city in the late '80s!

I had no clue in the early 90's either, it was by chance as I was blind buying Wax Trax! label bands at the time

Makes me glad I discovered them in 1991 and was able to pick up the earlier stuff I missed fairly cheaply. I collected everything from that day forward, conversed with Mr. Balance a few times about musical stuff and look forward to the day that any unreleased recordings finally come out (but that day keeps dragging on).

Now I feel guilty. Living in Toronto, it was easy enough to get two copies! The original transparent vinyl LP and the later CD reissue.

I only had one direct contact with Balance. When I ordered the original Stolen & Contaminated Songs direct from Threshold House, the disc wouldn't play properly. I sent it back with a note pointing out exactly where the disc skipped and asked for a replacement and he sent a new one with a note telling me I was protesting too much and should have been happy with the one I got.

Maybe he was in a really bad mood at the time but it seemed a stronger response than what was called for. Didn't stop me from buying lots more over the years, though. I guess I should have kept the (signed) note in the jewel case instead of throwing it out - I bet someone somewhere would have paid me something exhorbitant for it.

And the Stolen disc eventually became unplayable anyway. C'est la guerre.

Coil is one of my favorite bands , to me they sound Researchers, their music has a huge variety of styles,
the music can be beautiful and magical ,
aggressive and powerful, listening to coil is always a fascinating experience and a journey.

A few years ago I had the luck to find lots of Coil cds in one of the second-hand cd stores in Tel Aviv ( not the major big second hand store where I buy)
I almost fainted , they were very reasonably priced , A conversation with the seller revealed that a collector simply got rid from his collection without knowing that those cds are rare, also the seller was not aware of the real prices and he even did not knew the band!

I have more than 20 Coil cds - my favorites are : Horse Rotorvator , Scatology , Music to play in the Dark 1 and 2, The Angelic Conversation, Live 1 , The Remote Viewer ,unnatural history 1.
Moon's milk double cd and the bonus cdr of moon's milk cd (limited to 333 copies) , I did not find the bonus cdr in the store, I order it from Gemm and he was very expensive.

I know you will think that I am arrogant but I could not resist my desire to share

Nice to see some Coil fans here. I have collected this band for many years, mostly on CD. Also got the chance to see them live three times. This thread inspired me to put on the original Contaminated CD. Listening right now. No disc rot here. Thank God.

Did you see that Backwards is finally coming out this fall? I thought I would never again buy a Coil album, but of course I must buy Backwards. Only heard the demos back in the day. Have this on pre-order, but I do not think it's a limited release. So no need for 50K$ to get a hold of this

  20. So the songs have been stolen, the disc corrupted, and the conceptual completeness of the album realised.

  21. "Windowpane", actually. This was the closest they came to flirting with the mainstream; I actually saw the video on MuchMusic a couple of times.

did Peter's "Se7en" re-mix of NIN's "Closer" ever get released?

Anyone else pick up the new 8 reissues before they went out of stock? I'm hoping they will repress them and continue with the other planned 15 reissues but with all the infighting amongst past members I wont be surprised if it's delayed for a few more years.

Picked up 'The Snow', 'Windowpane' and 'Hellraiser' for $15 each. Can't complain about the price and the packaging, while not even coming close to elaborate, is at least serviceable.

I'm glad this stuff is getting back in print, but it's hard not to be annoyed at the business model. One album (easily their most pointless release - you REALLY need to get 'Angelic Conversation' on DVD, not an audio-only CD.), one mini-album and six singles. Five of them duplicated on 'Unnatural History II' and 'Unnatural History III.' I'm not crazy about having to buy this stuff for a third time (in the case of 'Hellraiser', fourth time!) just to get the handful of unreleased demos spread over the series. Couldn't they just reissue the 'Unnatural History' discs as-is for the people who don't already have them and put out a 2 (or 3 ?) -disc set of the demos for the old-school fans who already own the singles?
