Tangerine reminds me of Neil Young somewhat.

Stairway and The Battle of Evermore slaughters Neil Young's entire recorded output, so Pagey wins ! :)

I remember when I finally heard Roy Harper's Stormcock album recently I had the thought that the track "The Same Old Rock" was like a less mainstream "Stairway To Heaven."

If you listen to it backwards maybe you will hear Neil Young and Mr Ed having a conversation.

If Jimmy was obsessed with anyone at the time it may have been Joni Mitchell, i remember reading somewhere that Joni's ''California'' was the inspiration for ''Going To California''.

I once thought that many lead vox or lead gtr would love to have NY's art as he needed no one to just rock out or get mystically folksy.

I never heard this and-with the exception of the lyrics-- it's pretty close to the finished version of "Tangerine" from III. This does share some similarities to Neil Young's sound at the time, but not as much as "Down by the Seaside" does, which almost sounds like a NY pastiche , right down the title.

My recollection is that they were all obsessed with chemical enhancement, so who knows what popped into their heads?
