CRAP! I was going to DVR this tonight but I'm working and forgot about it. I just pushed the recorder, missed the first half hour. :thumbsdn: Hopefully I didn't miss Wilco.

    Thanks for reminding me, btw.

Been watching since the writers came back & so far it is decently funny. I hope it lasts because the last few years.....bleh. :( I like Mad TV also (I sure miss Mo Collins & Debra Wilson though), but I guess they are catching up since they did another best-of show again tonight.

  7. I had heard of Wilco but never listened to their work. I really like the song they are playing now. Am I a new fan?

The songs were "Hate It Here" and "Walken", both from their latest album, "Sky Blue Sky".

Wilco were good, and I really enjoyed the new songs.

As for the show, I think it's very funny...again. That Peter Pan sketch was uproarious!

Judging by the suit, I wonder if Tweedy is a fan of Gram.....?;)

    Saw the first skit......was terrible.
If Amy Pohler is the star of this show....then put a fork in it.

SNL has rarely had a perfect night in the last 3 years.

Two skits were entirely pointless last night. Good acting, some good ideas, did NOTHING for me.

Wilco was great. The two short songs made me want more. The rest of the show was crap. I barely chuckled once. It was interesting to see an all but officially stated political endorsement. I wasn't expecting that.

The skit where the host keeps getting scared in the mirror and then it switches to the wolfman scaring dracula and on and on was hillarious.

But that was about it.And the last skit looked like something a highschool came up with.

Wilco are a tight band man.

Good show. Thought they had some pretty decent material last night.

BTW, did the center channel information come out of everyone's left rear speaker? It's weird it was correct for the cartoon and then it went right back to the left rear.

Hehe... back and to the left.

I thought the show was funny last night. Wilco were great. I've seen Nels Cline play with The Geraldine Fibbers and that guy is amazing.:righton:

What did everyone think of Ellen Page? I think the show confirmed something I had in the back of mind (watching her work from way back) that I didn't want to immediately run with: she's a Woody Allen* type of actor. Not that it is bad, outcast teen dramas are a Canadian staple.

    * there is an interview where Woody Allen is talking about his acting range (with a very clear smirk on his face) and describes it as "I play a guy from Brooklyn, with glasses like these, who talks like this"

I fear Ellen Page may start running into the same problems that Winona Ryder did. You can't play a teenager forever.

I couldn't disagree more! Firstly, you must be talking about her Hillary imitation, if so you may be showing a bit of your political stance. But it if you are referring to the second sketch, where she played Dakota Fanning -- that was hilarious!

Secondly, Amy Poehler is a comedy genius, period, so I don't know what you are basing that statement on.

Back to Wilco -- I liked them a lot, but that first song should be credited to Van Morrison, if you ask me.

There is no one over the age of 20 that could possibly like this show.
It is so painful to watch. I've been watching since 1981.....and as Chris Rock once said, 3 of them were funny.
    1) There have been 2 comic geniuses that have come out of SNL
    -Eddie Murphy
    -Bill Murray
    Belushi is borderline
    2) Amy Poehler is/never was/will be a comedic genius. She has zero range. In fact, she always plays the same goofy dumb blonde.
    3) They waste the talents of Fred Armisen.
