or perhaps.....one of the other ones!

correct me if I'm wrong, but I think it's probably fair to say it's a straight shoot-out between these two absolute gems for their best work. nothing else comes anywhere near, imo.

be interested to hear your thoughts guys

Blue for me, btw. not one weak moment. Pinkerton very, very close though!

I gotta go with the blue album, too.
The material hangs together so well, it's played skillfully, and sounds wonderful.
It feels good to listen to that album.

My other 2 favorites are Maladroit and Pinkerton, I suppose. I find redeeming qualities in most of their albums, though.

    Both excellent !
But Blue gets my vote due to sheer memories revoked :)

Are there any good vinyl pressings of these by the way ?

Pinkerton for me, although I love em both. Pinkerton seems a little less polished and more raw. I think they are on par w each other in terms of the songwriting

Blue is probably one of the top albums of that decade.

I like the green one, possibly because I had it before the other two. I do like them as well.

While The Blue is probably the best made, my favorite is Raditude (2009)
I love some pop-rock especially from the late 2000s era. Most will disagree and most likely put it at the bottom of their discography. Trippin Down The Freeway is one of my favorites!

The only two Weezer albums I love.

Blue is perfect and will win this in a landslide. It's almost unfair to compare the slick and super-sunny vibe of Blue to the harsh and visceral Pinkerton. But MAN those visceral Pinkerton bangers are slammin'! "No Other One" is ****ing brilliant. Dave Fridmann coaxed some real magic outta the boys, never to be topped again. Cuomo and Sharp were a hell of a duo.

I vote for Green, particularly if I can add all the b-sides.

I dont actively dislike Weezer, and I have gone to see them live in the past, but I don't think any of their individual albums are especially good on the whole.

Love the Blue album, but choose Pinkerton. As others have said, it's unpolished and I love the sound they got with the drums.

I do kind of wish Rivers had went forward with Songs from the Black Hole, but Pinkerton is a great substitute.

If I HAD to pick one or the other, I have no doubt my head would likely explode.

    Respectfully sitting this poll out.

The tone of Pinkerton is amazing, but growing up is realizing that their craft was at it's peak with Blue.

not to nit-pick, but 'revoke' means 'cancel'. i think the word you're looking for is 'invoke'.

Blue is amazing and what I voted for, but if i'm bummed out Pinkerton is a lot more satisfying. The whole album is a such a downer, then Falling For You renews hope and Butterfly just snatches it back. I have MOFI copies of both and consider my Weezer collection complete unless I get Maladroit, EWBARITE or White for a steal. I thought those last 2 were better and more consistent than the bulk of their catalog

  20. I feel the same way. My wife and I have had this discussion MANY times, which one is better "Blue" or "Pinkerton"... We have never come to any conclusions. FWIW, the MOFI vinyl pressings of both are excellent. I also have an older import version of "Pinkerton" that is pretty good too.

  21. And I will confidently say that "Maladroit" is my third favorite Weezer album, although most disagree with me, but I see some love for it on this thread so that is good!

You should listen to Return of the Rentals again. I've read that album is the closest thing to Black Hole that was actually released, and Rivers gave up on his album when he heard it because he felt it would be too close to a retread. ROTR is my third favorite "Weezer" album.

This is like asking me whether I find Kate Upton or Rosie O'Donnell more attractive, LOL. The first album is my #4 album of the 1990s, the second is #1 on my "most disappointing follow-up to a killer debut" list.
