My kids didn't know what to do for me on Father's Day so I had them take me to see this movie again (my third time). It's such a beautifully crafted movie it's amazing. Every shot is incredible.

If I wasn't waiting for my car to be serviced I would have walked out on this movie

Favorite movie I've seen this year so far. Whimsical is the perfect word to describe it. Inside Llewyn Davis is my second favorite. Not so whimsical but a nice fantasy of the 60s instead of the 30s(?) anyway.

As usual a great Anderson film but it does lose it's focus a bit in the second half.

I'm hoping Criterion doesn't take too long to release there own version of this.

  6. Expect a few years before Criterion gets their hands on it.

Yeah with the money it's made, I doubt the studio is eager to license it out to Criterion.

  8. Wes writes it into his contract with the studio that Criterion eventually gets a crack at it.

Haven't read through the thread, but did anyone else HATE the fact that Zero's race/entire appearance changed with actors portraying him? I HATE when films pull that crap. If you're going to have one type of actor portray a character, MAKE SURE you get another actor who is at least somewhat similar!

Eh, my town only had it on screen for a week and it was gone - I missed seeing it on the big screen. I hope it comes out for the small screen soon.

Pardon my complete lack of knowledge on this, but what exactly is a Criterion release? some kind of special Blu-Ray? Extras?

What do you mean? It's been out for like 2 or 3 weeks on DVD/Blu-Ray and on-demand services.

I have seen about 4 wes anderson films. This is my favorite by far. Moonrise Kingdom was the last anderson film I saw and was kind of disappointed in it.

Thanks. Well I'm about to embark on new tv and first blue ray player so I'll keep an eye out for them.

Having seen all of his films, starting with Bottle Rocket no less, I was a little let down by this. My wife was as well. Expectations may have been a little too high. Not in the same league as Tenebaums or Moonrise IMO.

Actually I would rank it near the bottom of Anderson's films. It just didn't have the mojo.

I loved it. After The Life Aquatic I thought Anderson was on the decline. Mr Fox, Moonrise, and now Budapest?
    That quite a roll.

Finally got around to seeing it. I enjoyed every minute, great story, great acting, really really cool sets.
