What 1980's album(s) do you most want given the deluxe edition treatment (demos, etc) (Part 2)

  1. Incredible! Sure, I'm mentally filling in all the missing parts, but you've put something together that could easily hold its own against anything released as part of the "Zance" series from 1994...

As for potential bonus content to pad out an official expanded reissue, there's also the original 7" single edit and countless remixes, though since my last comment I've managed to find the quote regarding Trevor Horn's regrets about this entire project - during his Red Bull Music Academy lecture, he spoke of the initial plan being to produce just a one-off song for Grace Jones' greatest hits album, which then grew into an indulgent standalone LP because of how many times the core title track was reworked over a period of several months, changing significantly when compared to Bruce Woolley's demo.

The recent unabridged CD was indeed louder than it should have been, forcing me to raise the volume of additional material when I decided to "roll my own" deluxe edition. Saying that, I might go back and include your remix, especially since there's plenty of room left on the disc for it, not to mention it's different enough to justify its inclusion.

    Why not? Internal wrangles?

Just imagine... I'm Not In Love in 5.1....hmmm :)

(That said, really we are both discussing this in the wrong - 80s !!! - thread ;)

  3. Oh I had a brain fart (not the first time). In the U.S. At least the first two never really sold well and Jonathan King owns the first two lock, stock and barrel. Polygram/Universal have only show interest in releasing stuff that has been released previously (for the most part) and I doubt the four would be willing to mine the vaults at this stage.

That will be happening very soon, Reflex era first, then (hopefully) SST, keep checking the Numero Group Records site.

I think deluxe editions of these early titles would need someone like Steven Wilson to come on board and push for them to happen - it's certainly seems to be his era, what with his work with Yes, Crimson, Tull, Roxy et al. I always thought of 10cc as belonging to the same Art Rock movement as Roxy, so there is some hope.

    Don't know if he's a 10cc fan, though :(

    (He ought to be!)

I recently saw a two-disc package of an 80s album, one cd and one DVD.
    Looked really interesting
Saw that the video was PAL Region 0.
Trying to figure out what this is and how it will impact my purchase decision.
Until then, I will offer this '84 release as a suggestion: (Who's Afraid Of?) The Art of Noise! - Art of Noise.

I don't personally care for 5.1 mixes, or bluray either.

Already had my number one wish (It's Immaterial's Life's Hard And Then You Die) given the 2-cd treatment last year, but as others have already mentioned would love Malcolm McLaren's Duck Rock, early Simple Minds, Talking Heads and a few other artists. Also:

Danny Wilson - Meet Danny Wilson

There was so much material released on the b-sides of the various singles and e.p.s from this album - new songs, demoes, live and alternate versions - they might need more than one bonus disc.

Some of these could be super deluxe editions, some could be 2-CD sets, and some could be single disc reissues with bonus tracks...

    • Real Life - Heartland (I'd include 12" mixes of songs like "Send Me An Angel" and "Catch Me I'm Falling," along with the fine b-side "Like A Gun")
    • The entire B-52's catalogue
    • Steve Winwood - Back In The High Life Again and Roll With It
    • Sting's The Dream Of The Blue Turtles and ...Nothing Like The Sun
    • Make It Big and Fantastic from Wham! - include single/extended mixes, rarities like "Blue (Armed With Love)" and the Wexler version of "Careless Whisper," plus DVDs with videos, Foreign Skies, etc
    • Information Society - self-titled '88 debut
    • Breakfast Club - self-titled '87 album
    • Hooters - Nervous Night
    • Nu Shooz - Poolside (with all the single and extended mixes)
    • Berlin - all 3 Geffen albums

I can't believe they let the 30th Anniversary come and go without releasing a Super Deluxe Edition of this album with all the goodies.

He's only just finished touring The River box, has a album of new material recorded and ready to go, so it will be a few years until a Born In The USA box appears I should think
