What are Elton John's 5 signature songs? You can pick up to five.

    I picked:

    Bennie & The Jets
    Candle in the Wind
    I'm Still Standing
    Sacrifice

    Tough to choose really.

I changed it to FIVE given his long list of hits.

Philadelphia Freedom, as Greil Marcus said in his Stranded discography, is a work of genius. Just listen to what's going on in that recording. Astounding.

Levon should be on the list too, but the max number of poll choices was reached. =(

I agree. Like many EJ songs, it still sounds fresh to me 40 years later.

I think "Island Girl" is one of the "forgotten" big Elton hits. He often skips it in concert and I hardly ever hear it on the radio. Perhaps the lyrics are just not PC anymore? It has a very unique and fun sound.

These are not necessarily his best songs , but they are probably his best known, and thus his "signature songs."
    "Your Song"
    "Rocket Man"
    "Goodbye Yellow Brook Road"
    "Candle in the Wind"
    "Tiny Dancer"

I think the first four would have been picked in a similar poll taken in 1980 or so. Only "Tiny Dancer" is a late bloomer, thanks to it's exposure in Almost Famous.

The lyrics were borderline PC before PC was even a thing. But it is still played frequently on the radio in my neck of the woods--surprisingly--as I live in NJ within earshot of New York radio.
