One probably no one will know. "Konstantine" by Andrew McMahon via the group "Something Corporate." I always thought of this as being his epic song.

    +1

This one song kept me from away from their amazing catalog for years because I thought that was all they had worth playing from the band!

A lot of songs I can't hear on radio anymore or read about anymore actually have kept me from exploring deeper.

I'll add The Zombies "Time of the Season".

I think I read Bowie's "Teenage Wildlife" somewhere in this thread and that'd be my choice for him - you know, it kicks off the second side of the LP with only a few chords and then rises and rises until a very dramatic final part comes around the corner - really feels like a journey to me.
Other choices that come to mind:

Deep Purple - Child In Time
Pink Floyd - The Dark Side of the Moon (yes, the full album - to me it's like a long, segmented singular song, just like 'Supper's Ready' for Genesis)
    Dire Straits - Telegraph Road
Genesis - The Cinema Show (because Supper's Ready would be too obvious and lyrics-wise TCS really feels like a journey through the ages compared to the often-silly story arc behind Supper's Ready)
Kate Bush - An Endless Sky of Honey
    Queen - The Prophet's Song

Yes, but the OP said signatures songs that make you want to go deeper... ;)

"Hotel California" is a warning IMO.

    To quote the Big Lebowski...

OP specifically pointed out that he wasn't looking for a signature song. He wants their Stairway To Heaven-ish song.

    Happy Holidays.
