I wouldn't normally do this kind of thing but according to Wikipedia, "a signature song is the one song (or, in some cases, one of a few songs) that a popular and well-established recording artist or band is most closely identified with or best known for, even if they have had success with a variety of other songs."

If you had to narrow down Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe's signature songs to just 3, what do you think they would be?

(thanks to @dbone828 for the second inspirational lightbulb)

I have never got sick of any of these. I've always loved the first two, always will. Being Boring just grows and grows on me, an unbelievably great song. I really try to stick to the "signature" theme and not favorites but these three are on both lists.

I put West End Girls, It's a Sin, and Always on My Mind (What Have I Done to Deserve This could have been the third choice as well).

"West End Girls" and "Go West". That was easy. But a third choice... I opted for "It's A Sin", because it seems more them, or more specifically Pet Shop Boys, than, say, "What Have I Done To Deserve This?" (as brilliant as it is). "Being Boring" was also on my short list. But my favourite PSB songs (besides "West End Girls") are "Love Comes Quickly" and "Domino Dancing".

Really thought about Go West and What Have I... But I thought they should PSB originals, not covers and no guest vocals. I'm pretty sure they always play "Girls" and "Sin" live.

"West End Girls". It's the one song I associate immediately. Nothing else comes close.

I went with 'West End Girls', 'Always On My Mind' and 'Go West'. These are not my favourite three but they are the singles that I think most people would consider their signature songs. My favourite three would be 'What Have I Done To Deserve This?', 'It's A Sin' and 'Domino Dancing'.

It's a difficult one. From a UK perspective I went with West End Girls, It's A Sin and Always On My Mind. I would put Heart and the Dusty duet next.

"West End Girls" is the most obvious one. But since we were given four choices (by mistake, I'm sure), I also picked "It's a Sin," "What Have I Done" and "Always On My Mind."

However, if I were picking my three favorites: "West End Girls," "What Have I Done" and "Left To My Own Devices."

Finally, I understand that "Go West" is widely considered one of their signature songs, but maybe that's more outside the U.S.?

Being as the old dear who set up the poll actually gave us 4 options, I've since added the Dusty duet to my picks.:)

I just voted and picked the top three. I just picked the three choruses that are most engrained in my mind.

    West End Girls
    It's a Sin
What Have I Done to Deserve This?

I dont have any Pet Shop Boys albums nor to I wish for any.

I don't care whether Being Boring is a signature song or not, it is one of the all time great pop songs and it deserves to be on any Pet Shop Boys list.

"Go West" didn't even make the Hot 100 in the U.S., which is a shame.

I chose "West End Girls," "It's a Sin" and "What Have I Done to Deserve This" as their signature songs. My two favorites, though, are their most famous covers, "Always on My Mind" (Elvis Presley, Willie Nelson, et al.) and "Go West" (The Village People).

Going by the definition in the first post, I selected these (with regard to the US market):

    West End Girls
What Have I Done To Deserve This?
    Always On My Mind

From the options listed, my personal selections would be:

    West End Girls
    I'm Not Scared
    Being Boring

I have to agree with this! I like a lot of other songs by these two, including "Being Boring", "Domino Dancing", "What Have I Done To Deserve This" and the song that should have been a James Bond theme, at least "musically", "Left To My Own Devices", but nothing calls out their brilliance more than "West End Girls", in my opinion,

To me, Signature song implies that the general public associates with the artist.

From US perspective the biggest hits are four early singles.

"Left To My Own Devices" as a James Bond theme? I don't hear it -- and that's one of my three favorite PSB tunes. How about "Can You Forgive Her" instead?

And that was the same me too.

The video for AOMM features the late Joss Ackland as an unsettling back seat passenger that doesn't quite match the general tone of the lyrics!!
