would it be wise to keep a restored unit on a variac to insure proper voltage? These things were designed to receive somethingl like 110v or 115v max, correct?

A restored unit is plug and play, no need for a variac.

With all due respect, that depends upon who restored it and how... :ed:

Properly restored vintage gear is plug and play.

Modern electrolytic capacitors are a lot more tolerant of heat and voltage variations than the old ones were.

Congrats... I am glad you have some common sense... It is funny to hear from anyone how to use your receiver... how some said, it is all or nothing.... in a drastic self destruction possibility.

It could happen but the probability is very low...

    Enjoy!
