Once Upon a Time in the West (Ennio Morricone)
The Thin Red Line (Hans Zimmer)

It's hard to come up with a fourth on par w/ those, but what about
The Order (David Torn, a guitarist did this, and this dude coaxes sounds out of his guitar and gear that is unreal) (the movie is only so so) Check out youtube videos on Torn)

Never released, and the cut with it still isn't available, but Daniel Lanois' score for All the Pretty Horses still lingers with me

    4. Lord of the Rings

I guess to be technically correct, my listings for Immortal Beloved and The Red Violin are indeed scores rather than soundtracks. But close enough for internet chat.

My wife would kill me that I forgot Claudine. THAT is a FANTASTIC album. My wife and I, every year, we watch Claudine and have Fried Chicken and Cold Duck night. :)
