Ooooooh yes, Grace Kelly in "Rear Window". Delectable. :D

Wonder if anyone has ever seen "Dial M For Murder" in 3D?

I had the most fun organizing my Top Ten Hitchcocks on a thread a while back, I think it went:
    1. Vertigo
    2. North by Northwest
    3. Rear Window
    4. Notorious
    5. Psycho
    6. Marnie
    7. The Lady Vanishes
    8. Shadow of a Doubt
    9. The Thirty-Nine Steps
    10.Rebecca
Vertigo amazed me when I first saw it, because I thought Hitchcock was going to finally address the supernatural — and ultimately, I think he does, the plot not withstanding.
2 through 5 were pretty much a tie, although I think North by Northwest sometimes gets a bum rap as a comparatively "lightweight" offering from its period.
They say you either love or hate Marnie, but I guess I'm in the middle camp — I saw it on TV when I was a kid and was intrigued by it, still admire it, but it's not quite in the top rank for me. Although sixth place is pretty good!
7-8 and 9-10 are both virtual ties (ranking stuff is hard...) but, in general, I guess you can see which period I prefer...
My runners-up (in alphabetical order) (I really got into this!):
    1. The Birds
    2. The Lodger
    3. Rope
    4. Strangers on a Train
    5. The Trouble with Harry
    6. Under Capricorn
The Lodger is the silent feature that Hitchcock liked to refer to as his first, but was actually his third, I think...It's the first to have a lot of the Hitchcock trademarks, and I found it very interesting and enjoyable. Under Capricorn, a beautiful color film featuring a lot of long takes of dialogue, IIRC, starring Joseph Cotten and Ingrid Bergman. What a rich, deep, catalogue — I've been surprised to see how these films continue to get better and better as the years go by. What a long post. Sorry.

I took a college class all about the films of AH. We got to see a different one every week and the the teacher also showed us Mel Brooks "High Anxiety" and if I remember correctly we also saw Brian DePalma's "Dressed To Kill". I don't think I have ever had more fun in a class.

    My faves would be:

    Notorious
    39 Steps
    Rear Window
    North By Northwest
    Rebecca
    Trouble With Harry
    Psycho
    Rope

I haven't seen many Hitchcock films but I love The Birds! Tippy Hedrin (spelling?) was something then, and she still is, especially for all of the wonderful things she does for lions and other big cats.

Wow. This is an old thread!

I'd put VERTIGO at the top - and most of the rest are all tied for #2. I find it hard to qualitatively select one over another, but VERTIGO is definitely at the top. After that, most are merely superb!

the recent thread on vertigo by SteeveG got me wondering what the general consensus on Hitchcock films was here.
Apologies for not being able to do a poll as there weren't enough slots.

It's hard to pick one favorite, but I suppose if I had to it would be VERTIGO.

Once saw "Blackmail" silent & sound versions back to back. Interesting night & I thought the silent version worked better.
