Not only a great instrumental, but one of the greatest songs ever!!!! IMHO!

 

I would go so far as to call it a solo instrumental.

This is possibly my all time favorite acoustic guitar piece. The first time I ever heard it I was newly 15, and I was spinning side 1 of The Yes Album. I had just been blown away by Yours Is No Disgrace, which I had heard before but somehow did not know was Yes.

I was blown away. (by The Clap. Thanks so much for posting it.)

I was about to be blown away by Starship Trooper.

Couple of weeks later, repeat the same process with Close To The Edge.

This is how I became a Yesfan.

Many years later, 2002, I had my sons with me to see the classic mid 70's Yes live. Steve Howe played (The) Clap and dedicated it to all the young people in the audience, especially, he said, those under the age of 16. I almost fainted, almost fell over. Great, great memory (great version that night, too. Splendid!).

Demagomania by Jean-Luc Ponty, the first track from the great Civilized Evil recording.

Very nearly all of Ponty's work is instrumental, and the vast preponderance of it is wonderful.

 

Industry by King Crimson from the excellent Absent Lovers live album.

Mind-blowingly good.

Makes the original from Three Of A Perfect Pair seem twee.
