What, we're 3 pages in & no love for Little Village (John Hiatt/Nick Lowe/Ry Cooder/Jim Keltner)?

Yeah, maybe it didn't live up to its hype — but this one was in regular rotation at my house in the spring & summer of '92, and still gets a spin now & then. They also did some great live shows at the time of its release.

I usually use allmusic as a reference but I don't know how accurate they are sometimes. They say Oct '91 as release date but maybe that was the recording date. The photos on discogs show copyright 1992 so you're probably right.

    5 favorites:
    E.L.P. - Black Moon
The Stray Cats - Choo Choo Hot Fish
    Dr Dre - The Chronic
    Black Sabbath - Dehumanizer
    Michael Nesmith - Tropical Campfires

    re-issue:
Elvis Presley - The Complete 50's Masters Box Set

    Memorable concert:
Ray Charles/Circle Star Theater (Nov. 1992)
Ray was clearly in a bad mood. Kinda funny (cursing at musicians and the sound guys), but in hindsight, one of the worst shows I've ever witnessed.

For me, it's still their best. Come on Feel the Lemonheads was a sloppy mess, probably due to Evan Dando's increased intake of various chemical substances (which I recall he infamously discussed in a then-current interview with SPIN. Something about wanting to do PCP and hiding drugs in a hollowed out hairbrush handle if I recall correctly). By the time Car Button Cloth squeaked out, I was no longer interested. Apparently neither were the masses. The albums pre-Ray all have good bits (Dando's "Brass Buttons" is my fave version of that tune and "Amazing Grace" from the debut is righteously punkish) but that album will always be the best to my ears.
