    This order works fine
    BB
    LIB
    SF
    Exile
    But, on close inspection..
    BB
    Exile
    work for me best.

Shady dogs sucking in the seventies?
Black & Blue is a very underrated album.

You know, I'm usually pretty good at picking up this kind of thing, but it's only now just dawned on me how many Stones albums people could be referring to as 'BB.'
    Between the Buttons
    Beggar's Banquet
    Black & Blue
    Bridges to Babylon
    A Bigger Bang

Bigger fans probably already knew this, but I didn't. Do they do this on purpose?

I picked seven and for me these days probably in order of most to least often returned to:

    Sticky Fingers
    Beggar's Banquet
    Exile
    Some Girls
    Tattoo You
    Let It Bleed
    Aftermath

I also like A Bigger Bang, Ya Yas and Brussels Affair....

For the '60s stuff I prefer the London Years singles collection to any albums other than Beggar's Banquet which I think it just great.

Haha very true. I've seen these abbreviations on Stones boards....

    Between the Buttons - BTB
    Beggar's Banquet - BB
    Black & Blue - B&B
    Bridges to Babylon - B2B
    A Bigger Bang - ABB

Looking at this after I've typed it--it's pretty silly. And no, as far as I know there is no rhyme or reason for the similarities.

It 'worked' for me as an album here in the States. I'd never heard the word "compilation" in regards to a rock release back in 1967.

    I see.

But I think that it could be useful in discussions to make differences between records like "Flowers", "1962-1966", "Immaculate Collection" or "Made In The Shade" -> records that are compiled regarding a topic (singles, rarities, non album tracks...) and records like "Aftermath", "Revolver" or "Pet Sounds" -> records that had special studio sessions and were intended by the artists as associated tracks.

Aftermath UK. I really prefer the mid-sixties Stones (love Between the Buttons too!) to the "classic" period of Beggars Banquet-Exile (although those are great albums I love too).

Nice to see Satanic Majesties getting some positive reevaluation after such scathing reviews from critics, fans, and the Stones themselves. I've always thought it was a fantastic album.
I can understand comps being excluded for space considerations, but both volumes of Hot Rocks are 2 of the greatest comps ever assembled.

Sure, but how? 'Album' is a bit vague. 'Studio album'?

Anyway it's obvious by the list in the poll. I was just being difficult because I like the one in question more than the specially recorded studio albums that were released in that era.

Everything changed after Jones and I enjoy their later work but the early Stones are still the best. At least to me anyway. :)

This is hard, OP. I legit love, or at least really enjoy almost EVERY Stones album.

If a gun were to my head though:

    Let It Bleed
    Exile On Main Street
    It's Only Rock and Roll
    Undercover
    Voodoo Lounge

That's probably my top 5 favorite Stone's albums

    :)

I'll just shuffle yours around a bit, John...

    1. Exile On Main St.
    2. Beggars Banquet.
    3. Sticky Fingers.
    4. Let It Bleed.
    5. Aftermath (UK).

Goat's Head Soup is a clear #6. Then (in any order), rounding out the top ten, it's...

    The Rolling Stones No 2
    Tattoo You
    It's Only Rock 'n' Roll
    Some Girls

And throw the wonderful UK debut album in there as well. So I've got eleven in my top ten. Excellent.

I've never understood why Time Waits For No One isn't regarded as a classic. It's fantastic. Probably my favorite Taylor playing.

That's fair, I guess. Jones wasn't the only factor why the whole thing changed: Mick Taylor, a new record company, tax exile, drugs, being on the road again, emphasis on different working styles and so on, all contributed to the change within the sound and direction of the band.

While I still consider the 1968-1972 period the absolute best, the 1966-1967 period is for me only standing stronger and stronger as the years pass. Especially 'Buttons' and 'Satanic' shows a very adventureous band. I simply don't buy the 'wilderness' theory, that the albums were misfires in their studio canon. 'Beggars' to 'Exile' could not have been made, if it was not for the seeds they planted with those two 1967 albums.

I've never understood the love for the 2 lps from 1967. Each has a few good moments but I much prefer the earlier albums than those.
