It's amazing to me how many complete seasons of TV shows are poppin' up on DVD. It seems like every time I walk into Best Buy I'm amazed to see some of the stuff that's making its way to disc.

Of course, the vast majority of TV shows are more recent, like CSI, Friends, etc.

What classic TV show would you buy on DVD? There are probably many that I would consider, but one that I think would be a lot of fun would be 'The Munsters.' After all, it only ran 2 seasons, so collecting every episode would be painless. Can you imagine owning every season of something that ran for years and years, like 'Gunsmoke?'

    I Married Joan

    Surfside 6
    77 Sunset Strip
    Occasional Wife
    Love That Bob
    The NBC color "Howdy Doody"

    And many more!

Does the 80s count as "classic"?
    "St. Elsewhere"
    "Late Night with David Letterman"
The second and third season of "Soap"

And from the early 90s, two brilliant but short-lived animated series:
    "Duckman"
    "The Critic"

Good news on The Critic, it's coming out - I think in January. The complete series in one set.

I've been hoping for The Critic on DVD almost since I got my first player. :righton:

Now, how about the first season of the ANIMATED version of The Tick?

I'm surprised at how some marginal TV shows make it to DVD, while other good ones fester. For me, "classic" will have to be anything up through the mid 80's or so. ;) Here's what is on my own personal want list:

    1. Peter Gunn, more for Mancini's music than anything else. :) Since Blake Edwards had a hand in it, it's bound to be good. (I've only seen a couple of episodes.)

    2. Max Headroom. I don't think it ran more than a couple of seasons here. As long as it makes Amanda Pays look good, I'm there! :)

    3. Crime Story. This was sort of a "cult favorite" among my friends and I. The pilot and the following two episodes made it to Laserdisc, but it sold so poorly it was cancelled. Columbia House has it on VHS.

    4. WKRP. Alas, the music rights to this would be a nightmare to renegotiate all these years later.

    Wild Wild West
Bob Newhart Show (the 1st one)
    Barney Miller

Probably more that I can't think of just now.

    Ah, great choice, Ken!

I assume you mean the original show, and not the '80s remake version. ;)

How about one of my favorite guilty pleasures (adjusted for inflation):

The 22-1/2 Million Dollar Man ;)

I would also love to see "Starsky and Hutch" and "Hawaii 5-0"

I'm with you on that one - that show was hilarious.

I'd also vote for more MST3K epsiodes, as well as Miami Vice, but both of those have extra liscensing hurdles that make things difficult.

    I'd also like to see:
    Six Million Dollar Man
The Misadventures of Ed Grimley (I think that was the title - it was a cartoon)
Magnum P.I., which I believe is in the works

    Complete seasons of SNL 1975-80

And maybe some through best of's after that. 1 for each year or 2.

    Seinfeld

    Simpsons- complete Tracey Ullman shorts

I would also like them to reconfigure the I Love Lucy DVD's. You have to buy 9 (!) DVD's to get the first season. Absolutely stupid!!

Stupid...but also shrewd. If there are enough undemanding "Lucy" fans out there willing enough to shell out for the sets, why should Paramount Home Video do it any other way?

Wow. How did you dredge that one up from your memory banks? Geez, hosted by Jack Linkletter. I'm sure the B&W 2" videotapes have long been destroyed....

Personally, I'd love to see all of the Andy Williams Show musical guests on one nice DVD. The Beach Boys, Association, Judy Garland, etc., all in living color!

I actually proposed this to Andy but the licensing would be a nightmare...
