I respect the opinions of my fellow forum members here. I have McCartney, Ram and Band on the Run on DCC. What McCartney title would you recommend next?

    Thanks,

    Brian

The choice is Speed of Sound, Red Rose Tea or Venus and Mars. I'd go for Red Rose some of those songs like Single Pigeon and Little Lamb Dragonfly have a certain charm and nice melodies.

All three albums are uneven and have their moments of greatness. The Hoffmanized bassline on Silly Love Songs is worth the price of admission.

Really Brian it's only personal preference from this point because there's only 3 DCC McCartney titles that you don't already own. They are all rare as Hen's teeth now but I seem to recall WATSOS being a little more available.

    Goodluck in your search.:)

I have to agree with Steve. Besides two monster hits (Silly Love Songs & Let 'Em In), At The Speed of Sound has some very underrated gems like Beware My Love, She's My Baby and Warm & Beautiful. Sonically, it is one of Macca's better albums. The downside is that half the album is devoted to vocals by the rest of the band (although I do admit to enjoying Linda's Cook of the House).

Thanks, Steve. Read a thread where they had asked you about how you feel about the albums you work on. They praised the doorbell sound. Love to hear that myself.

My oldest brother had this on vinyl along with the other titles I mwntioned. He is a big Paul fan like me. This album is often criticized for the other members contributions. I love Time to Hide. I'll try and find a used copy. Thanks always for all of your quick help.

Yes, but I appreciate everyone's feedback nonetheless. I'll see if I can find WATSOS.

    Thanks dave and everyone!!!!

It's not a DCC title, but "Tug of War," is one of McCartney's very best LPs. If you don't already have, check it out. Song for song, it's great.

I don't see how one could possibly live without ANY of the McCartney DCCs! I'd start searching all three and grabbing them when the price allows. You WON'T go wrong with any of them!

His Gortness is correct!:D WATSOS was the easiest McCartney title to find but Red Rose Speedway was probably the hardest title to find besides Ram(thanks again Ronflugelguy!). I still see Band On The Run used occasionally for cheap, so I'll holler if I see it again.

Wings At the Speed of Sound has popped up recently on both CD Universe and CD Connection. Out of stock now but might be worth keeping your eyes open. Can also be had on e-bay for a reasonable price periodically.

Brian, buy the others by all means, but in my opinion you already own the best three. So there's always the chance you will be a little disappointed (assuming you're not already familiar with the music).

Thanks, Peter and Michael. Appreciate your thoughts here. I agree that his best albums are S/T, Ram and Band On The Run. I just think you can't go wrong with Steve's magic touch to Macca's catalog. I have a Venus and Mars on the way for a modest price. I think I have I also have dibs on a DCC WATSOS, as well.

I guarantee you'll love that DCC Venus And Mars. It kicks ass!

If you have the domestic Capitol or the '93 UK remaster dump 'em!

Thanks John. Love to find a Red Rose Speedway to complete the missing three. Love that Steve put bonus tracks on VAM as well as RRS.

Oh man, you guys are all wrong (except for John C)! ;) Venus and Mars is the Masterpiece of the Paul McCartney collection! I just  LOVE  that album! Numero-Uno!

And when I heard Steve's DCC version I was in seventh heaven!

Anyway, pick up whatever you find anywhere you find it. I don't think these discs will ever sound any better.

    Gary,

Should have it in a couple of days. Ya' know...I have read threads about how Steve's remastering is gentle to the ears...I couldn't agree more! I can play his CDs over and over again. They have a warmth to them.

Me too. Love the way "Hi Hi Hi" and "C Moon" sound on the DCC version of RRS.
