What movie did you go to most often on its original theatrical run.

For me it was with out a doubt "Caddyshack" I don't know how many times I paid to see that one and I can't remember seeing any other film more than twice on its initial release in theatres.

I don't know why, apart from perhaps boredom, but I paid to see Monty Python's Meaning Of Life five times when it came out. Now, I love Monty Python, and I love most of their films, but this is one that over the years has gone flat for me. I didn't even bother with the new DVD version. Yet, I went back to see it over and over while it was out.

Around 1974, I went to the drive-in four nights in a row to see "Spirits of the Dead," a horror trilogy featuring Federico Fellini's psychedelic and hallucinatory "Toby Dammit" starring Terrence Stamp. The other two parts of the trilogy kinda sucked, tho.

When "A Hard Day's Night" first came out, we watched it, then stayed thru the second feature "The Slave, Son Of Spartucus" starring Steve Reeves, so we could see it again.

Like I said elsewhere, I saw "Finding Nemo" 7 times last summer and never got tired of it.

In high school some friends and I saw "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" at least 10 times, probably more, at the dollar theater. We went several times in a row during just one week. :) We had much of the dialog memorized but it's slipped my memory since then.

I don't think I have ever seen a film more than twice on its initial theatrical release.

    "HELP", saw it twice.

"STAR WARS" at the Chinese Theatre in LA. Saw it five times in 1977.

"STAR TREK whatever number, The Voyage Home". Saw it twice at the Cinerama Dome in two weeks.

    "ET" five times.

    "Alien" twice.

    "Close Encounters" three times.

I think that is it for theatre repeats...

No, wait. saw Disney's "The Rescuers" twice at the Pickwood. I guy I know worked on it....

I never go to movies twice anymore.

When I was a kid I saw Indiana Jones, Goonies, & Return Of the Jedi probably 4-5 a piece.

Back To The Future was probably 3 or 4

Films I have seen twice on a single theatrical release

    Star Wars
    Star Wars Special Edition
    Silence of the Lambs
    The Fisher King
    Batman
    Aliens
    Beauty and the Beast
    Pocahontas
    The Iron Giant
    The Hudsucker Proxy
    The Fly (Cronenberg remake)

There is no question that the film I have seen in a theater the largest number of times is "The Rocky Horror Picture Show", although it has been quite awhile since the last time.

    Honestly.....Star Wars: The Phantom Menace.

My thirst for Star Wars was so great, that within the first two weeks of release, I saw this movie 4 times with various friends and relatives.
I'm just a huge Star Wars fan, plain and simple.

Actually, I just remembered that I saw "Mary Poppins" multiple times. I think my sister & I convinced every relative we knew to take us when we were kids.

Blade Runner too many times to admit. I was as fascinated by the words as I was by the visuals. Most underrated script in history, at least to me.

This, despite feeling that Harrison Ford was terribly miscast and some horrible edits.

Oh yeah, that reminds me to add SW: Attack of the Clones to the list. I saw it a second time because I was curious about digital projection.

The most ever is 4 times that I saw Bruce Lee in The Chinese Connection. Martial artist extraordinaire even in todays "fake martial artists" redundancy.

The Exorcist 3 times. It really opened the doors towards todays horror flicks, but somehow none have been able to match the story behind this one IMHO.

Star Wars twice. I just couldn't get enough of George Lucas's work in those days.

It was definitely Help!. A friend and I stayed in the theater in downtown Long Beach all day and watched it I think 5 times just that day. We went other times too but not for all day. Also Apocolypse Now a few times, Star Wars a couple and the first Star Trek a couple. When my kids were little we saw Little Mermaid several times too.

Both Fellowship Of The Ring and Two Towers - 4 times each, mainly because my son wanted to keep going (he would have gone 10 times if I let him). Also saw Help! at least 3, maybe 4 times, can't remember since it was so long ago. I've got a funny feeling I'll be seeing Return Of The King at least 4 times, maybe 5 since I'm sure my son wants to break his previous record.:)

Star Trek: The Motion Picture. Saw it five times in its original release.
A lot of people said it was a weak film and maybe it was, but doggonit, seeing my "old friends" after a ten-year absence, seeing them on a BIG screen, and with movie-quality special effects blew me away. I saw it opening day (06 December 1979) and i've carried on that opening day tradition with every Star Trek film since...although they don't seem to be getting better. :(

I think it was Who Framed Roger Rabbit or The Cook, The Thief, His Wife And Her Lover. One of those. ;)

No wait - maybe Peter's Friends or The Full Monty...
