Regarding Bank Job, does anyone recall hearing Lola by the Kinks, or In The Midnight Hour by Wilson Pickett in this movie and/or on the home video version? Maybe I need to play it again but I missed both of those songs which are mentioned in the credits.

  2. According to this list, it is not region free. LionsGate uses single region coding some.

I remember hearing 15-25 seconds of Lola. As far as Wicked Pickett, I cannot recall for sure.

No, I had Busted Buy price-match Amazonia and came in just over $26 with the state's cut added on. That's proably about a dollar cheaper than Amazonia, and I got it now.

There were virtually no significant Blu sale items today. "21" was nearly double the price of the reg-lar DVD, which I have coming from Amazonia. What do ya'all think about Warner's announced fall price-cuts on BD's. It's makin' me wanna stop buying Warner till fall! Warner's iniative seems rather deja voux of the early times of DVD when they did the same sort of thang when Disney and Fox had hideous prices....

I hope we get the same sort of result and prices over $25 become uncommon.

I Know What You Did Last Summer showed up today from amazon.com

Played Pans Labyrinth (HD DVD) all the way through tonight for my parents who were visiting. That was their choice of movies to play. I was surprised by how quickly they rejected the two Bob Hope HD DVDs I presented.

I purchased the Ocean's Gift Set (they get panned, but they're fun) and L.A. Confidential (pre-order) on Blu directly from Warner's for $63.11 shipped. Used a 30% off coupon plus got free shipping.

  11. I purchased the Ocean's films and haven't watched them yet, but I will. Sometimes mind numbing nonsense is good entertainment for me and that is about all I could expect from those films.

Actually, only "Ocean's Twelve" was frequently panned. "Eleven" and "Thirteen" were generally recognized by critics for being the entertaining diversions that they were intended to be.

Damn Borders. Dangled a 40% off 2001 Blu-Ray in front of me and I took it. :)

David Gilmour's 'Remember That Night' on Blu.

A well filmed virtuoso performance all around.

A great Dolby TrueHD surround track.

I noticed a few compression artifacts, but nothing to write home about.

    It's a great night 'out'.

  15. I bought the HD DVD "That's Entertainment" 3-disc collection. Not sure when I will watch it but for some reason I wanted it.

From overseas, I Still Know What You Did Last Summer. Both of these are Region ABC. Both have Dolby TrueHD.

Indeed. I also have Clockwork Orange and The Shining, and they all look and sound wonderful. I just read an announcement for Dr. Strangelove on BD, to be released in December, I think.

That should be interesting since it was shot to look like a painting.

It is the best 2001 I have yet seen although I continue to struggle with Kubrick's message in the ending...maybe I need to read some critiques.

I picked up 'Shine A Light' on Blu this morning.

I'm only about halfway through, but so far it's a great disc.

    Beautifully filmed. Great performance.

    The dts-HD track sounds terrific.

Amazonia was s-l-o-w last week. My copy of '21' finally arrived a week after release date.

    Last nights pick ups:
    "3:10 to Yuma" ('07) BD
    "Dan in Real Life" BD
    "Devil Wears Prada, The" BD
    all $13.95US used NM

"3:10" was l o n g, however even better than I thought it would be. A half hour shorter & this would be one tight little gun fight (IMO)!

    Believe me!
Kubrick "struggled" with the message in the ending!!!
Yes; this transfer is not prefect. However, as close to a 70mm presentation as we've had from a silver disc at home. :D
