I have two Hammill pressings Enter K and Patience that have the Bronze issue really bad and they both still play perfectly.

Since everybody seem to move to HighRez or Vinyl and away from CDs, used ones can be had for little money, even the good ones. If you have a good CDP SQ can be be quite good.

If I'm not listening to a CD, it's a CDR

Hey, if people just started buying vinyl 2 weeks ago, that's OK with me. Better late than never. The more people are interested in this format, the better off for all of us. It will give manufacturers the incentive to produce better products. It has pretty much resurrected vinyl LP's from the dead. That is something I thought I would never see again in my lifetime.

The only bad pressing, in my recollection, were those early UK PDO ones that had rot with time, aka bronzing.

Thanks John...yes, they can be a minor flaw to some, but I really dig the compactness of the compact disc including the art work...for me it's really the perfect package for a large collection...

I am a 100% cd listener. There are so many great choices out there to choose from. There are many new remasters of classic albums that are not victims of the loudness wars and sound nice!

My Chocolate Watchband 44 is very bronzed! But, it still plays...just in case... I backed it up.

A small problem, make a copy before its too late. If you listen the crap made by many compact disc pressing plants today you will praise the early UK's PDO.

yes, the quality in and out has degraded! Still, rather have a CD than an LP!

They don't care, but the artists changed the wave because their talent was used for other purposes... mass production without quality but I think it's just a fashion,
yesterday loudness was cool, today is a crap but tomorrow never knows...

To me, too. I love this line from the article:
"There's the act of putting a record on, there is the comforting surface noise..."
Comforting?!? It's friggin' annoying!!! It always has been!!!

It's just a fashion for many people, the market rules but our tastes can change the status.

Good times. There are some unremastered jewels out there for 1-5 bucks. I am busy buying them now ( after stupidly selling some a few years ago:shake:).
