There was a time that the supermarkets I'd go into had good old muzak playing in the aisles, along with real pop instrumentals, and the odd laid-back AM vocal hit/pop standard. Now it's all this wailing, crybaby, 'serious' love garbage of the day where the repetition of the high note and LOUD hook as you meander to and through aisles is more than enough to make you start to hate the store. I'm serious. I am begining to have real contempt for any place that considers this to be attractive or appealing. Is it really proven to be the background music that people of today want to hear as they peruse the shelves for bottles of wine and Eggos? Who programmes this barf? My thirty-eight year old sister and her friends? Is it this bad everywhere?
