Interesting to read posts that include nothing from the Fish era. I stopped listening to them once Fish left.

You are missing out on some really great music. Sure, different vocalist but Hogarth has a totally different style that is equally ss engaging.

There is *FAR* more Marillion from the Hogarth era than the Fish era. Fish was the singer for 7 years (81-88) and 4 studio albums. Steve Hogarth has been the singer for 27 years (88-15) and 14 studio albums.

In fact, I'd argue (and I know it will rile up the Fish-era-only fans) that the Fish years were sort of "embryonic" Marillion, like the Barrett-era Floyd. h-Marillion is really who the band is.

And I say that as a fan of both timeframes & both singers. I've seen Marillion with Fish live, Marillion with h live, and Fish solo live.

While i understand the comment, the sheer popularity of the band between the two eras clearly tells me that they went back to the womb after Fish left. they played Castle Donnington with Fish. Don't imagine the current lineup making a similar appearance.

While they haven't had a radio "hit" since Kayleigh for the most part, they've clearly evolved wayyy past the 80's neo-prog they played during those brief Fish years. That music sounds very dated to me now, even though I still like it.

But I get that some people love that and can't see past it, but the band has moved on from there, long ago.

As far as Donington, they're simply not a young band anymore, regardless of the singer. They're not going to appeal to that sort of crowd this far into their career.

That would be my choice. Those first few albums were great. I don't much care for what they've done since (but admittedly I haven't heard everything).

I have all of the 2 disc sets that spell Marillion on the spine if you have them all. Fugazi is the only one I really enjoy.

  16. He Knows You Know is my personal favourite, from its early live airings to the versions on the Script tour, all were nigh-on perfect.

I also like Chelsea Monday a lot.

Some bands deserve more than one song or album to try to get them, and Marillion's one of them.

I said incubus above somewhere, but I'd also like to add fantastic place which gives me a lump in my throat. Estonia too, pretty much.

The extended version of Lady Nina is great. Even with the drum machine.
